... of our American life.[25](p158)

A feature of area was the number of nationalities represented; Shea described the Roman Catholic Diocese of Green Bay as one where the faithful were poor, scattered, and spoke too many languages. The bishop had to find priests able to give instructions and hear confessions in English, French, German, Holland Dutch, Walloon, Bohemian, Polish, and Menominee, a nation of Native Americans living in Wisconsin. In a small congregation of ...

... with a lovely blue sky. I wonder how long that will last..... Time for somewhere new. I'm heading to the Nicoya peninsula. There are a couple of options to get there, a $20 bus (which leaves from the city centre and would cost about $20-30 to get to the bus stop....), or a $60 private van. Tonight we went to a super fancy dinner on the 17th floor of the hilton in San Jóse. Thankfully, I didn't spill on anyone or any item of my clothing! Before dinner, we learned the salsa, the merangue, and the barachi (I definitely butchered the spelling). Kids in Costa Rica learn these dances beginning in 6th grade and they dance this way for their version of homecoming and prom! It's so much better than our prom! Granted, I couldn't actually follow ...

San Jose Labour Day

... police in riot gear to stop any trouble. We thought they had found out that I had smuggled a monkey (Zoe) in from Nica. From the look of the bands, dancing and relaxed nature of the protests it looked like the Police should have had the day off as well. Not much of note really happened in San Jose. I finally found a barber in Chinatown and got a shave which caused much celebration. We had the best iced coffee of the trip so far and found a cheap ...
