Big city...

... restless so after the tour we took her to the park in one of the squares. Thank god for parks. She had a blast! It was nearing dinner time so we headed into the area around the cathedral (which was beautiful). Actually, Seville at night is really pretty. it's by far the best time to see it. We found a great little outdoor restaurant and enjoyed a pretty good meal. Shae fell asleep on the walk to the ...

Thoughts

... My grades are not as high and they usually are, (for good reason) and I've decided to get a tutoring session once  a week.  This week I have almost all my midterms, so I'll be a little study-holic.   Today the weather is bad, which is good because otherwise I'd be tempted to spend the day soaking up the sun and enjoying some brews with my American Amigos along the river, something that happens at least 3 times a week since the ...

Is it Art or Is It Oppression?

... reaction to the beauty and wonder of the art and architecture of the cathedral-one of awe, respect, spirituality, and a sense of being in the presence of the divine. And one of our participants talked to me about feeling spiritually elevated in any house of worship. But those who enjoyed the church did so despite the fact that it was a church, not because of it. They talked about being able to separate the beautiful art on the walls from the divine ...

Hola a todos

... school offers to meet some of the Spanish students at the school and probably meet my Spanish boyfriend :) Saturday night I went out with a group of friends to some of the bars that are nearby and tried some sangria and this drink called agua de sevilla, which is a combination of a bunch of different kinds of liquor, champagne, and pineapples and weirdly enough tastes and smells like cinnamon rolls, its ...

Holy cow!

The last two days have been the craziest and most unbelievable of my life. The last time I wrote was ending with my sister and I just getting to Madrid and about to go out for tapas. Well, that night, we indeed did go out for tapas, and let me tell you...they were the most delicious things I had ever eaten. We wandered around La Plaza Santa Ana for a while until we just happened to walk into this amazing tapas bar. We ordered mushrooms, asparagus, salmon, cod ...

DAY 32 - FUBRUARY 4, 2007

... century. It contains mostly paintings and a few scultures as well. One of my favorites was a Nativity scene painted on a large napkin. After all that sun, we have had incessant cold rain for two weeks! I feel like I am in London! Well, this is the "rainly season" so it figures. I really shouldn´t be complaing, becasue when it is 85 degrees outside at 11 a.m. in May, I will yearn for the cold rain again. Enjoy the Super Bowl!

DAY 11 - JANUARY 14, 2007

... to the side with Calle Betis is an added incentive to make the trip. A few more notes on the Spanish culture. I have yet to make dinner reservation with friends. I do this frequently back home, but not here. While there are plenty of places to sit and dine for two hours, it is just way too fun to not have a fixed destination. Instead, I rather hop around aimlessly. This is a great way, I have found, to discover the tiniest of cobbled ...

I don't like being sick!

... or "Big Daddy," and they are just laughs through pretty much the whole thing except for like 5 minutes. This movie had a lot of funny parts, but the real story line was quite deep and was very prominent. It was extremely sad, and I pretty much just bawled through the second half of the movie! That was not was I was hoping for, but it was still a great movie. Because its main theme is "family first," it made me really homesick which was also not what I was hoping for.
