... fine with this hitch in our plans. I was even glad that I was going to get a chance to see the famous Memling. When we got to the hotel, it didn't look auspicious out front. ... cashews actually, just the glass bottle which he has carried with him since Ivory Coast. He sits and pours the cashews into a travel sack so he can keep them, and leaves the bottle.

Finally we can sit down and dry out. Time from arrival at the airport to sitting in the departure lounge: an hour and a quarter.

... came a sudden deluge of frenzied shouts and screams, dancing and pushing and shoving and laughing. The decibels rose until I finally retreated.

Next we stopped to see Mami and the clinic where she had just given birth. This was a heartrending visit. Right about the time our plane was landing in Kinshasa she was in labor to bring twins into the world. It was a difficult birth that ended with a caesarian. ... our brethren. At around 6PM, I heard a knock on my door. It was Mr. Meeker. He told me that a few of the men had come by the hotel for a quick visit. Earlier today, we had discussed transferring a printable hymnal file from Mr. Meeker's laptop to a USB flash drive.
