La Controra Hostel Naples

Nous avons pris l'autobus publique pour atteindre le sommet du vesus, le volcan n'a pas tellement a offrir, mais la vue sur la bay est vraiment belle. Ensuite, nous avons visités les ruines d'Herculaneom. Une autre ville disparue sous l'eruption du vesus il y a pres de 2000 ans. il y a encore beaucoup de travail d'archeologie en cours, mais on peut voir que la ville est meiux conserver, il y a meme des batiments de 2 et 3 etages et des pieces de bois qui ont traversé le temps !

I am so far behind with this blog. Partly, it's because we have traveled every single month during 2009. There's so much to tell & show that unless I write every week, I'm always several trips behind. The other problem is ...

Ola Kala: simply, OK (in Greek). No time for lots of flap.....we're on the go. The Vatican Museums await us (and we can hardly wait to do more walking!). Enjoy the pictures and we'll fill you in on the adventure next time I make the time to sit and gab.

Sunday caught the train out to Pompei which was ginormous!

... to Naples was really nice, passing through seemingly endless seas of vineyards flashing by at high speed.
Welcome Inn Hostel in Naples was cool too. An apartment converted into hostel but with good common area and roomy enough dorms.

Wandered around Naples and really like this city. Most exciting one so far in Italy. Some people had said not to go to Naples cause it was dirty and dangerous. Glad I didn't listen as it's my favourite city in ...

... 13 hours out of those 17 passed out cold in one or another of the beds. At one point I dreamt that I'd come home early, and I was strangely relieved when I woke up in a giant boat floating somewhere in the Mediterranean.
Here's my wrap-up of Greece: Chick'n Chicken had the best food (mind you, I spent 2.5 days in Greece and ate 5 pitas from 5 different places), the percentage of people who speak decent English is about the same as Israel (hit and miss), and I definitely want ...

... collapse, probably under the weight of all the washed clothes that are hung from them to dry. Seriously, they all have chunks missing. It resembles a warzone in parts, but with no war. The first thing I thought when I was wandering amongst the backstreets was - I'm back in Beirut. And the there's never-ending, often needless blasting of horns from every car, bus and vespa. It get's better... It's also the home of the Mafia and pizza, and pizza is wicked. Mafia not so much ...

... Cross-walks mean jack all here, you can have a green light to walk and a police car will run you over, no ****...I speak from a near death experience! Traffic laws mean nothing, and once you cross a street the terror is not over, because you still need to find room to stand amid all the garbage! ...411: The garbage collectors in Italy are on strike...the headline of the newspapers today in fact...it hasn't been collected in ages. The guy asked us whether it was our first time in Naples (remember, we had German plates on a rental van and could be easily recognised as tourists from a mile) and offered a word of caution.
