Monday 11th November - Day 49

It was great to wake up naturally today in a nice private room without the sound of 6 other dorm members zipping up bags and shutting lockers! Kelly cracked on with some writing work whilst I was given the task of researching our next steps.

We ventured out into Santiago, a city we really knew very …

Back to Santiago and it's still freezing! I relaxed here for the weekend and decided on the next move. I think it's time to start moving north so I'll have to sadly ditch Valparaiso...

Weekend was fun tho, went clubbing with a couple of Lebanese friends (F and T). Also went to D's place here for a cook in evening and made some "bazella w …

Santiago so far: beautiful and has a very developed vibe but makes you miss the charming chaos of Buenos Aires and is very expensive (prices comparable to Western Europe!).

Spent the first day going up the San Cristobal hill, with a zoo halfway up (first funicular stop). You would get a perfect view of Santiago from the top of the hill ( …

So we did some time-travelling to get here...left New Zealand at 16.05 arrived in Santiago at 10.55 the same day! CRAZY! We managed to negotiate our way onto a bus that would drop us off in the centre of the city where from there we got the tube to our neighbourhood. Really pleased we did that Spanish course before we left! What a life saver! It …

One of the nicest hostels I have seen so far. Best shower experience, lots of common areas (indoor and outdoor), cool amenities (pool table, baby foot, wifi everywhere). Only downside is that the rooms are not sufficiently heated, which makes it cold at night. Would go there again in better weather!

This cosy, welcoming hostel was a great introduction to Santiago. Friendly and helpful staff, colourful and lively décor, and easy access to useful information. Also offers a wide selection of tours as well as many evening events such as Salsa lessons and Chilean food night. Facilities were clean and well maintained and the rooms were colourful and cool with relatively comfortable beds. Bedding and towels were included. All around a wonderful place to stay.
