      A seemingly great party hostel

Although there were lots of communal areas in the hostel, a big bar, pool, rooftop hammocks the bedrooms themselves were cramped and small. There were no lockers to keep belongings and there was a ladder in the room which led to another room where the staff slept so there was a constant flow of people coming in and out. The kitchen was awful, dirty, small and not well kept and the fridge was full of old food.

I only stayed here one night as I had a flight the next day to Medellin. But the hostel was enormous, with a great pool, rooftop terrace, bar, and more. The vibe and party here was very good as well. And I can't forget to mention the hilarious artwork scattered throughout the hostel. I highly recommend staying at this hostel as I wish I could've stayed longer.

Had a great time at La Brisa Loca. The place has everything a backpacker needs. A beautiful restored mansion in Old Town. Nice rooms, cool showers (great escape from the heat). Decent food, lovely bar and very helpful staff. It's a party hostel but was quiet when we were here. i would highly recommend it.

      Chill atmosphere

We enjoyed our stay at la brisa loca. The staff was very friendly and provided us with linens and a free drink at the bar upon entrance. The hostel itself is an awesome space with 3 floors including a kitchen, bar, billiards area, rooftop, and living room with tv. Our only complaint was that the rooms (even though there are fans) are very very hot and it was uncomfortable to sleep. There was a pool too but it wasnt as clean as it could have been so nobody was using it. Other than that its a great place to stay and in a great location.

highly reccommend, one of the nicest hostels iv stayed in, slightly cleeky staff, just mean everyone seems to be part of their gang. but other than that, nice rooms, reasonably priced, nice people, nice atmosphere.

We only stayed a night at La Brisa Loca, but it seemed a nice enough place! The dorms are big and a bit warm, but it has a roof terrace, bar, pool, pool table, TV and a small kitchen. Can't really rate the atmosphere but it seemed the bar would be good fun when it gets going. Nice staff, helpful. It was right in the town, near the beach and bars etc. Not the quietest place and I think if you are looking for a party you'll get one here.

      Christmas in Santa (Marta)

We were woken by a Danish bloke shouting happy Christmas in our room which was located next to the bar. He had apparently received the dare to do so after spinning the wheel. Breakfast in the bar was disturbed by people still going strong from the night before and availing of the 9-11am happy hour and insisted on us spinning …

Back to Santa Marta with Rose and Sophie for a last Saturday night starting at La Brisa Loca and a DJ on the rooftop. Add to that a bit of ragaton bumping and grinding with the locals, sunrise back on the roof terrace, a dip in the pool plus more shena****ns that can't possibly be published and you have an excellent final night out in South America!!

I went to Minca, a tiny place in the mountains to unwind and detox after Taganga and it was the perfect place for it. The hostel I stayed in was set up high on the side of a mountain with an incredible view. Thankfully I had left my big backpack at a hostel in Santa Marta as the climb up there was bordering on evil! The hostel itself was smaller …

Santa Marta party then Tagonga (party)

Santa Marta proper Apart from a dodgy burger and small ropy beach I haven't a lot to say about Santa Marta. This is probably because we spent the night partying in the hostel, La Brisa Loca, and headed off first thing in the morning to Tagonga. We'd heard there wasn't much to do in Santa Marta itself so planning a drive through, and to be honest …

Excuse the title, couldn't help myself. When in Colombia right? My time in Ecuador ended with a day trip to Quilotoa, which is a beautiful crater lake in the middle of a volcano. On the way to Quilotoa we stopped at an indigenous man's house, who lived in a hut and who bred guinea pigs for food. It is very popular to eat guinea pig in Peru and …
