But we did get to experience the ghetto of rome and then one block over rome's wall street...interesting how fast the areas can change!

Now it was time to head to the train station to catch our overnight train to Interlaken Switzerland...and this time we were in a sleeping car! So now its official we have travelled every way possible by train after we do the sleeping car!

Now its off to Switzerland!!
Rome, Lazio, Italy kkb-myadventure... before. We wanted to go there anyway seeing as it was closed for mass when we were there the first time.

We finally found a restaurant we liked just a block from the Pantheon. Tony and Witek were getting most impatient with me and Relle’s selection process. We did have something particular in mind but we just couldn’t find it! I don’t think that I have mentioned how in Europe a lot of the restaurants actually spruik and some of them can get quite pushy, making up ...
Rome, Lazio, Italy kimmykak... where used as decorations. We couldn't take any pictures but here is a link to some. It was pretty bizarre. http://www.cappucciniviaveneto.it/cappu ccini_ing.html We walked to Trastevere which is across the river and had some dinner and checked out Santa Maria of Trastevere. It was a little quieter that night but we still didn't sleep too good. The stupid birds outside our window apparently started to die at 4:00 in the morning.
Rome, Lazio, Italy christineraymoSo, it's all over. That 2 month trip that looked so distant and so long has come to an end while it seems we were out for no more than 2 weeks. The only thing I can do now is to look at the thousands of pictures (mostly thanks to Dominique), read the journal in which I wrote every day for the first 3 weeks of my Asia trip and then never touched again for the next 5 weeks (I barely had time to sleep and eat therefore journaling always took the backseat), remember the amazing ...
Rome, Lazio, Italy mambo_italianoIt's been *n eventful few weeks. Amy c*me to visit me, *nd together we ripped this country in two. Or three. In multiple pieces *nyw*ys. The co*st w*s be*utiful, but the we*ther w*s *wful. For most of our st*y there, we h*d the ple*sure of experiencing re*l Irish horizont*l r*in. We s*w the cliffs of Moher ...
Rome, Italy bjjohnso... it for now, I'm glad I've been able to update and I will probably be able to more often once school starts and I know what my schedule will be like. Roma is a beautiful city and I can't believe I get to live here for 4 months. It is also amazing that passing some of the most amazing monuments is just part of my daily schedule. The Vatican City is literally a 10 minute walk and I pass it every day. I wonder what the Romans think of the monuments after growing up here...
Rome, Italy linds86... we finally made it. It was basically like the flea markets at home. We did buy an umbrella and some CDs for copying pictures. After our escapade on Monday we quickly realized a 1GB memory stick wasn't going to last 2 days here. We only staid about 1 hour and then headed home, getting lost along the way of course. We headed toward the other side of town toward Piazza del Quirinale. Located here was the original Pope Palace. We missed the ...
Rome, Italy jaclynandchad... left Rome, we decided to cut our Italy time short and fly to London early. On Monday night we found and booked some cheap accommodation in London and then headed to a phone to change our flights. So far on our trip, we've been able to change our flights exactly how we have wanted without too many problems but we didn't really consider the fact that we were flying with British Airways who we hadn 't had the joy of experiencing before! So we called our good friends at ...
Rome, Italy tennille... and Truth with Death (a skeleton with an hour glass) coming up from under them all. It is hard to miss. I invited myself into a little tour group at the statue because I found it so interesting. It turns out that Truth has her foot on the world and there is a rather large thorn in her big toe. The thorn is coming out of England due to the schism of the Protestant and Catholic Church. You see this a lot around here...all the Protestants ...
Roma, Italy pimpernel66... So we now owned a bottle of this prize winning wine. Finally settled up for the Strega and the Maximo and our bits and pieces while discussing where his brother lives (Beacon Hill), his restaurant and their plans to visit next year. We arrived home at 7.00 to be followed up the drive by Claire and Carl (the aforementioned lost Irish couple). They of course were ready to divorce, abandon the car, and go and stay somewhere else. They had driven from Pisa airport, weren't ...
