No.54-64 Nathan Road, Mirador Mansion Hong Kong, China

Alex: We arrived into Hong Kong late but even so it was still very hot and humid, still our first glimpse of the city was at its best, lit up across the strait from Kowloon where our hostel was. The hostel was like nothing else we had ever stayed in. We had booked it on the internet from a recommendation in a book and as it was cheap and our last stop we went for a "Luxury" room with a window. The room pretty much was a window with a bed and small desk all you could fit in and the en suite wa...
Kowloon, Hong Kong alexndeanHi Travelpod Readers, This is Dan, the normally silent partner from such trips as "Hello Hainan," "Mexican Macau" and "Happy in Hong Kong." So this is a featurette for those who would like to know where we stay when we're away from home. The selection of a hostel or hotel can really influence the way your trip goes. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and amenities galore will see that you are ready and refreshed for the adventures into the unknown. Sometimes it is merely the communal bathroom t...
All over, China bethverde After our great time in the Philippines we fly north to the incomparable Hong Kong.
When we arrived in Hong Kong we were in for a big shock, after spending 5 months in warm 30+ C temperatures we were met by a shocking 13C, how could this be, all the stories you hear about Hong Kong its always hot and humid, not grey and freezing. We dug out our fleeces and jumpers and also had to wear sock and shoes for the first time since July.
Despite the cold we had a great time and having...
After another late night drinking the Bia Hoi in Hanoi we find ourselves winging our way to Hong Kong. We fly because its another holiday in Vietnam and so the train is full (its also only 2hrs by plane instead of 30hrs by train). Landing in Hong Kong after being in Hanoi is a shock to the system - clean, efficient, express train from the airport to city centre metro system. Cath loves the sanitizing mats at every doorway and the regular disinfectant cleaning - they do not like SARS here and ...
Hong kong, Hong Kong cath_rich_rtw06Hello Everyone We have just arrived in China this Morning. We caught an early bus from downtown Kowloon, just across the road from our cockcroach infested little hole that was our accommodation. We stayed at the "Mirador Mansions" a 16 storey building on Nathan road, right in the heart of the shopping district on the peninsular. The mansions were made up of dodgy little shops on the ground floor selling trinkets, tobacco and porn, and seedy guesthouses run by a mixture of chinese and indian l...

Ja terveisia Hong Kongin tullista! Taas on veronmaksajaa raakatty 2 tuntia (kahdella laukusta loytyneella irtileikatulla passinpaalla saattoi olla osuutta asiaan mutta hei.. NE EIVAT OLE LAITTOMIA!!) rajavartioiden toimesta - turhaan. Muuten lento Bangkokista sujui ongelmitta ( n.2 tuntia) ja matka HK:n lentokentalta Kowlooniin hoidettiin tuttuun tapaan "Airstation Expressilla". Kowloonissa paluu Mirador Mansionin...

Pikainen ekskursio Macauun jai nyt viimeiseksi tripiksi ennen kotiinpaluuta. Viela olisi rinkka pakattava ja vietava yksi laatikko postiin. Viimeiset paivat Hong Kongissa edessa joidenka jalkeen alkaakin 21 tunnin psykedeelinen paluumatka Helsinki-Vantaalle. Tavaraa ei pitaisi olla yli sallittua 20 kiloa mutta kuka tietaa.. Taytyy tarkistaa jos hostellilla olisi vaaka. Hong Kong islandin "The Peak" voisi olla sop...
Well, the auld train trips keep getting longer, we took the 28 hour train journey to Hong Kong which was rather groovy actually baby. Plenty of Paddy Fields and half built 20 storey apartments in the middle of nowhere and with an inflation rate at 9.8% (once a QS, what(in a Dub Accent obviously)) there is no stopping them with the construction lark. And into Hong Kong we rode, into the madness, with super skyskapers and delapated 15+ storey apartment blocks, the bright lights of Hong Kong kno...
