Well, the rest of my stay in Bulgaria was pretty uneventful. I discovered an amazing vegetarian restaurant just downstairs from the hostel, and over-ate there both Saturday and Sunday nights. From Budapest to Brasov in Romania, it took a 12 hour train ride. Trains here are very slow. Brasov is a good place to base oneself to visit the castles and surrounding countryside in Transylvania. I half expected to find a countryside dominated by steep, craggy mountain peaks framing narrow valleys cover by the omnipresent rolling dark clouds and lightning that strikes day and night. ... only just met. We sat in her kitchen with her roomate, eating too many cookies. Occasionally the doorbell would ring, and a troop of young boys, or occasionally, grown men, would come in and - as is the tradition the day after Easter - spray each of us with scented water as though we were flowers. We were having so much fun, planning a future for me in which I live in Brasov, teach English at the school where Andi teaches, and then start a hostel, that I nearly missed my train.
