Hi all well im in Galway after taking a wonderful tour with Paddywagon tours. I highly recommend them if you look them up. I am currently taking a Six day Southern Tour of Ireland. Paddywagon includes all transportation/services of a guide/Breakfast/ intrance to various attractions/over night in a hostel on all nights of the tour and lots of great company. We left Dublin at around 8:30am on our way to Galway. We saw the famous Guiness factory but did not stop thier. We did stop at a park that...
Galway, Western Ireland, Ireland adri204I have a lot of thoughts about Northern Ireland whirling around my head and I wanted to get some of them out into the ether. The north was markedly more industrial than the republic. The drive to Belfast, while nothing like the U.S. rust belt, was not exactly picturesque. Economic development has clearly come much more slowly here. The people we met in both Belfast and Derry are happy about peace (well, duh) and optimistic about the future. That optimism does seem to be tempered by a bit of a...
Galway, Western Ireland, Ireland bachcjAfter a rather bumpy 5 1/2 hour bus ride from Derry we arrived in the sweet little town of Galway and stumbled into our favorite hostel yet. If you're ever in the area I highly recommend the Kinlay House. :) As mentioned we indulged in a fantastic vegetarian dinner and got down to meeting the girls in our dorm. This was our first dorm experience, and it was overwhelmingly positive. It was such fun to chat with other travelers and hear all about their adventures. Galway itself has very little ...

We began our little three day tour with the lovely folk of Paddy Wagon Tours and our group of 32 consisting mainly of Australians and Canadians. The traffic on the way out of Dublin on a Monday morning was chaotic to say the least. Our first stop was the Phoenix Park which I am told is the second largest city park in the world after Gorky Park Moscow. The park has its own zoo and fallow deer have roamed freely within its grounds since the 17th century. The park is located approximately 3 km w...
Galway, Ireland brad2512Galway is not known for its marvelous sights and intricate museums, rather it is celebrated in Ireland for having some of the best craic! Craic means party, enjoyment, etc in Irish. Here in Galway as you stroll down Shop street your ears are caressed by the picking of a banjo, the tuning of a fiddle and the rhythms of a djembe. Everyone on the street is a musician, a busquer as they call them. Just trying to make a living off of their god-given talents. In the pubs you'll meet locals who star...
Galway, Galway, Ireland hippietravelerThis morning we woke up early for the bus to Galway. I had a wonderful bus ride complete with a nap and great views of the Irish countryside. I was ready to leave Limerick and Galway was a great choice. It is beautiful here! We are staying at the Kinlay hostel (which gives you only 30 minutes of free internet, of which I only have 11 left)! Today we spent the day roaming the city-admiring the massive Galway Cathedral, walking around the University, and shopping in the market area. It is defin...

... were quite professional-looking. Mom didn't really want to hike the entire way up, but I made her, telling her it would be a once in a lifetime trip, which it was! The view from the tops was really cool. The shear drop down from the cliffs would have been deadly for anyone who got too close. The ring fort had 2 different levels. The first level was quite large, while the second level was considerable ...
