Namban Rengo at Oda field

A planned activity-take the day off! That's how my head works. While in Russia I'd searched for 'Japan running races' and found that I'd essentially no chance as they are generally booked a month or more in advance and that's it. But the club giving the info run their track session on a Wednesday and are a 'foreigners' running club'. Perfect. Some …

To Tokyo, Greeted by rain

Our plane was so greeted, but nothing could dampen the welcome given by Narita airport; not the lack of sleep (snorer, travel excitement), not the slightly (professionally, probably) grumpy customs man, and not the heat steaming off the wet airport Tarmac. No queues, smiling people, and technology everywhere. My alarm went off at six so i could …

Our overnight Willer Bus is brilliant. Bright pink reclining soft seats with pull down shades to block out sound and light. Alan takes full advantage and gets a good sleep. Sharon struggles and is wrecked by morning time. We're dropped off at Shinjuku at 7.15am which is supposed to be one of the busiest places on earth in rush hour. It's …

Heb me hierbij wel zitten …

    Okay, but not great

I was in a dorm room, which had bunk bed w/ curtains. Again, the beds were too low to shove luggage under. There were lockers and a storage rack in the room. On my floor, there was 1 sink for everyone to share (about 40 people). There was no shower on this floor, and one toilet and urinal. The urinal was beside the sink.

Most showers were off the lobby on ground floor, meaning you had to be naked listening to other people on the other side. Not great.
