Friendly staff and great atmosphere

Staff that go out of their way to help, lively bar next door with good food. Well stocked kitchen, comfy beds, good Skype access, altogether great. Only snag- the blinds in my room didn't shut properly so the lights from the outdoor bar area made the room too bright to get a good nights sleep.

Wish we had more than one night at this place. It was about 50 minutes out of Nelson though and no services after 5pm out of season. but good rooms and nice people

The crossing from Wellington to Picton was a difficult one. Lots of hungover people on a 3 hour ferry is never a good combination.
When we got to the other side we jumped on board a different, more shiny bus with a whole bunch of new people which became our extended kiwi family.
We headed through the Marlborough valley, famous for its …

I joined the kiwi experience bus in Kaiteriteri, a bus aimed for backpackers which travels around New Zealand, taking people to all the great sites. We journeyed to Nelson lakes, some of the highest lakes in NZ, offering stunning views with crystal clear water, perfect for swimming, for those willing to risk the eels anyway! We travelled to some …

The South Island Kaiteriteri We stayed at Kaiteri Lodge, which was a cute little hostel by a gorgeous beach. We chilled out in Kaiteriteri, had a wine tasting experience and enjoyed their food and an early night! Westport We stopped at a gorgeous Lake by Nelson on the way to Westport-where we became action adventure girls, enjoying their Jet …

We arrived in Kaiteriteri which is a costal town at 5pm and headed to the hostel, Kateri Lodge. It was pretty modern but the room was so cramped which was a bit of a pain. The hostel was right on the beach so we headed down there til about 7 and had a quick paddle but safe to say it was like ice water! We didn't do too much that night as there wasn …

Day 2

A travel blog entry by becky_whitmore on Aug 22, 2014

We had a really long day on the bus today, we have to pick up and drop off at the ferry at Picton but the weather has caused huge swells and long delays so a lot of waiting around. We went to see the seal pups at a waterfall out of Kaikoura on the way and then spent some time wandering around Picton to kill some time. We finally got to the hostel …
