Staff that go out of their way to help, lively bar next door with good food. Well stocked kitchen, comfy beds, good Skype access, altogether great. Only snag- the blinds in my room didn't shut properly so the lights from the outdoor bar area made the room too bright to get a good nights sleep.

Wish we had more than one night at this place. It was about 50 minutes out of Nelson though and no services after 5pm out of season. but good rooms and nice people

This morning after breakfast we shoot off North to Picton, where most of this tour group head back to the north island with the ferry, and we gain a new tour group for the rest of our trip. We use the hour layover well to have a nosy around the harbour and flash riverfront apartments, whom probably the yachts belong to! Our new driver is called …

We set off early for Wellington ferry terminal to catch the 9am ferry to the South Island over the Cook Strait. The ferry ride is 4hrs and the scenery is amazing for the last part as you go through the Marlborough Sounds into Picton arriving at midday. It has been voted one of the best ferry crossings in the world and no wonder why!
