I am so glad we are doing a lot of walking, as our family is very hospitable and the food is very, very good! Cabbage rolls, cold beetroot soup and a great deal of pastries and cake! So I really need to walk a lot! Skoudas is quite a large town near the Latvian border and there a large number of smaller villages scattered throughout the relatively flat landscape. Many people ride bikes around here and they do not have to contend with the hills we have in Perth. You ...

We climbed over the dunes for a quick look at the beach however it was very cold so we ran back to the slight wind shelter. The park also hosts the largest drum kit in Latvia! Back at the hostel we did a quick bit of research into the bus to Kuldiga before heading to the recommended restaurant for dinner. Ally tried the local dish which was a sort of Cullen Skink ...

I'd booked two nights in Liepaja as there was a lot of Soviet stuff in the surrounding area I wanted to try and find. Now I new that most if not all of it would be down gravel roads and you all know how much I hate riding on them. So too make life easier I thought about hiring a car for the day. That appears to be bit of a radical concept to Liepaja as there is only one place the hotel knew about that might rent cars. It's a big town and has a fair bit ...
