Beach Rd Ninh Phuoc, Vietnam, 84-58-622384
We spent our last day in Dalat climbing Lang Biang mountain, the highest peak in Dalat (about 2200 metres - is that high?!). It was a rather energetic thing to do, and kinda hard-going at times (it was quite steep and really slippery in parts) but definitely worth it for the view from the top. It was just us and Pluen and Gabriella (cool dutch couple who we first met in Saigon and are on pretty much the same route as us)and two comical guides who kept us entertained and provided a fantastic p...
Nha Trang, Vietnam aliandcamWe actually wanted to stay just outside Nha Trang at a resort called Jungle Beach which is an eco-friendly resort with bungalows on the beach on an organic farm - luckily fate was with us on this day though! We got dropped off by the side of the road and got told that the resort was 20km away - funnily enough we were instantly surrounded by lots of willing moto drivers who wanted to take us there for some rip-off price! Paul suggested we ring the resort to see if they could come and pick us u...
Nha Trang, Vietnam dawn_smedley A tip off at Hoa's, actually five picture's on his wall was all that was needed to convince us of a visit.
Early arrival 6.30. We enter the site and met by a man who is like Gene Wilder out of Willy Wonker (sorry Sylvio).
A small now smug group who had spent an hour at the petrol station watching sunrise are pleased to see what is on offer. Huts, a jungle and a beach, we discover more good thing's over the next couple of day's.
This was the most active part of our trip. Fr...
So, over halfway now! Pretty crazy to think. Sometimes I think back to Fiji and it's hard to believe it all happened so recently! A little bit of news... Michelle and I are coming home a couple days earlier than we had planned. Michelle has to get to S. Ontario for a job and I have to get back for a social! Not sure if you all know but my very good friend Laura Graceffo is getting married in October and I am one of her bridesmaids. I've just found out that her wedding social is June 16 (the d...
Da Lat, Vietnam lindseyjJungle Beach Resort is located on a secluded stretch of fine white sand, well off the main road between Hoi An and Nha Trang. For $18.50 US per day you get a beach hut with ocean views and three home-cooked meals a day. We took a sleeper bus from Hoi An and at about five in the morning were let out at a gas station, seemingly in the middle of nowhere. We had arranged a pick up with the resort and thankfully they held up their end of the bargain and were waiting for us when we got there. We ho...
Jungle Beach, Vietnam vagabonderz... some 'tunage' we all jump in the water (around a 'floating bar' - a guy in a rubber ring with a bottle of wine) and start drinking a mix of free (rough as hell) red wine with a generous mix of sea water. On the way back we stop off at an aqarium - where the fish are huge! Seriously, the size of pigs - I was impressed.
After our draining day of relaxation we head back to the mainland and have a few drinks and food before jumping on our first ever night bus...
... from harsh winds in the afternoon and rougher seas. After sussing out the town we began a long search of diving companies and eventually settled on Rainbow dives who were PADI certified and had a promotion on, two discover scuba dives for $50. Had a few drinks but not too many as I definatley didn't want a hangover the next day for diving.

... time cruising we moored up and were able to pick up a kayak. Myself and Christian set off for one of the islands which apparently had a tunnel you could go into. As we reached the island we could see a small tunnel through which daylight was visible at the other end. On going through the tunnel we came into the centre of the island, There was no other exit and there was only ourselves plus 2 other boats – one of which was a couple off our boat. It was very quiet and ...
Nha Trang, Vietnam the_lightowlers... was Long Than Gallery, but it was close for lunch.
So onwards to the Oceanographic Institute, a fun place. Good for working out which fish is which. Oh well enough for today back to the hotel.
I’ve had enough of bike. But now I can do traffic lights one more skill to add to the list. But I really need to work on my navigation skills, or get a map.
... even had ocean water in it, but I really didn't care. As I was clammering to the "bar" I kept feeling something biting me, it more like a stinging sensation. I thought maybe I had a cut or something but then I felt it on my arms, my tummy....all over! I turned to the Canadian girl "Do you feel something?" "Ya! what is that?" "I don't know but it really hurts!"
Turns out, it was sea lice.
SEA LICE!
I've never heard of sea lice befoe. It was so annoying and ...
