As of March 26, we've been traveling for more than three months, which means that I can check the item "Study/live abroad for 3 months" off of my "30 Things to Do Before I Turn 30" list, and that Dennis and I have achieved the original goal of this trip. Though the trip grew and expanded during the planning process, becoming a much longer, round- …

Leaving Lilongwe via airplane was an unusual experience. At 4:00 p.m. last Thursday I entered the airport and had the strange sense that I had stepped back in time into a bizarre ghost town. I noticed traces of airport-esque features, including an ostensible metal detector and a string of ticket counters, and there were a few employees lazing about …

We walked across the border from Zimbabwe to Zambia and were thankful that the man at Zambian immigration was far more interested in his phone call than trying to find an empty page in Ish's passport. We booked ourselves onto a sunset river cruise, avoiding the booze cruise and were pleasantly surprised to find that our boat, 'Lady Livingstone&# …

We were due to spend a couple of days here in Livingstone but here we are a week later, just about ready to leave. It is the rainy season here and so we got stuck for longer than we thought. One day it started to rain hard at 3pm (a bit like Summer in Oldham) and didn't stop for the next 30 hours!!! We have our reward now though as it is glorious …

Super social hostel with a gazillion activities that you could do, in addition to seeing the falls. Funky decor and generally awesome spot. Also loved that the locals came and hung out!

Jollyboys has a great, relaxed atmosphere with a pool, chill reading area, internet cafe, bar, self-serve kitchen as well as small restaurant. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The entire establishment is clean, there are great showers, quite is enforced after 10:30pm and the beds are comfortable with 2 pillows (oh how girls love their pillows!)
