... choppy, not glass-like as it was on the way out. Kristjan is speeding us back to shore as fast as he dares given the conditions. Long before we make it back to Split my bum hurts from sitting on the pommel-horse! Jo is clutching David like crazy, she says she feels like a biker's moll! We make it back to the Split waterfront without experiencing a drop of rain. After saying our farewells, Jo and I stop for a coffee. What an amazing and exhilarating day ...

... view, did i mention it was a pink art gallery come restaurant?! Quirky complete..

A ten minute water taxi later we were sticky beaking at the HUGE boats on our way to the allocated bar - cocktails, cocktails, cocktails! We were joined by 3 guys from Perth (Anthony, Josh and Jyles) and a group of 8 soccer lads from the Central Coast of New South Wales. This is where everything will get interesting a few days ...

Our original plan on this morning was to go in the rooftop hot tub in the hotel before breakfast however when we got up there was no water in the tub- very disappointing!! Instead we had breakfast and set out to explore Split. We walked around Diocletian's Palace in the light. It is very charming with narrow streets through all the old buildings. Just outside the Palace was advertised a live museum looking at Roman history, particularly that ...

... we stopped at a far less edgy motorway service station, and marvelled at the sturdy scenery as well as the marked rise in temperature.
We pressed on down the coast, aiming for Split and the conclusion of our epic descent from South Poland, which was to clock in at 700 miles. Red was well and truly fixed, evidently. After all the wonderful scenery of the past two days, our first sight of Split was a bit perturbing, with docklands and row upon row of ugly housing blocks. Even ...
