My last entry while on my trip!!!
Hi all this is Sadly my last entry while actually on my Trip. My last few days have been great. I spent 12/09/08 Tuesday just bumming around Killiarny. I took a walk and found a tack store and had a great visit with the lady who runs it. I also found a couple of used book stores and checked around. I also just streched my legs and had a great walk …
First day and already beat...
So I got dropped off at the airport last night by Joe and the fam. We got there early, a little after 4. After waiting in the super long security check line, I finally went to get something to eat. I stopped at Potbelly's and got an Italian Sub. I then ate, and decided not to do any homework because I only had a half an hour until they were going …
Ireland day 2
My nap lasted a little longer than expected because I wasn't paying attention when I set my alarm. I slept for two and a half hours. Then I headed towards Dublin Bay. This city is very dirty and pretty run down. A lot of the shops on the side are closed down. While there are some nice older building, most o of the buildings and streets are not …
Day 1
Well what a fooken mental first day it was involving three planes, two coaches, one train and one angry customs lady who felt the need to point out everything I was doing was just stupid. When I arrived at the hostel It had been thirty five hours from Perth airport to the hostel in Dublin but even then sleep was not to be had for another five hours …
Day 2
It was a good start to the day meeting a French guy who was going off to visit the Dublin castle and asked if I would like to come along which I did and it delivered everything you would expect with some beautiful stain glass windows and carvings on the walls. Ireland has a very old looking exterior look which is very kool it is almost like going …

I rented a private room at the hostel for 3 nights (Wednesday-Saturday). Overall, I was happy with what I got for the price I paid. I would recommend bringing ear plugs though.
My room was on the first floor and due to sleeping with the window open and the loud sounds of people and the doors in the hall, ear plugs or being a heavy sleeper is a must. I didn't face the train but faced an alley where workers next door would talk and smoke.
My room and the shared bathroom were clean and there is a kitchen you can use to prepare your food. The breakfast is toast and cereal (can't comment on it as I'm gluten free) but I had juice and coffee every morning.
The common area was relaxing for some downtime but I missed out on trying out the sauna. I liked the location as I was short walk away from the places I wanted to visit and it's handy when you are arriving and leaving Dublin.

A decent hostel. The staff was very nice, and the building is pretty cool. It's in an old wine cellar. The rooms were clean, and the bathrooms were fairly clean. The showers are of the push button type, which give you about 20 seconds of water at a time. I wasn't a huge fan of these, but they get the job done. This place seemed to attract a younger crowd. There were a lot of 18-19 year-olds. They host a pub crawl every night, and there was was a lot of people partying on our floor. As such, it was quite loud. I guess it depends on you if this is a plus or minus. It's a good enough place to stay, but I wish we'd have spent just a bit more money on a quieter place.
