Average hostel with average rooms at an average price. Nothing great but nothing diabolical either. But it DOES have a giant marlin above reception. Hell, everyone needs something a bit different, non?

Though the rooms are a bit unclean and you can hear everything that's going on in the corridor, the place is exactly what you need if you want to save money and are not going to spend much time inside the hotel.
It is located outside the old city walls, which is a disadvantage, and you have to walk through a quite scary park and a few blocks (if it is dark and you don't see many people on the streets, get a cab, they are cheap and you'll be doing yourself a favour).
The employees are very nice as most colombians tend to be.
One hint: If you want to party, don't miss the parties they throw at the hotel crossing the street!!

Not great. Pretty cheap and does have air-con, which is an advantage in Cartagena.
The staff sucked, were rude and tried to rob my lonely planet - nuff said.

Cartagena Colombia
I'll keep this short because we're a month behind schedule on the old blogaroo and I'm pretty sure all you people care about is the photos anyway!
So Cartagena....Beautiful place. We bused it down from Santa Marta with our new English friends Charlie and Christian. We had 3 days there where we spent our time wandering through the old town …
Old Colonial Port
Cartagena is a beautiful city - definitely the best city we have been to in South America and the old town area would beat most European cities too! The old town - surrounded by old stone walls to protect it from attack by sea - is full of narrow winding streets with buildings with brightly coloured facades and balconies overgrowing with greenery. …
Another colonial city...
Having made our way successfully but slowly across Panama City to Tocumen International Airport on a Red Devil, we just had time for a quick coffee (and bacon and egg sarnie for Dan) before we boarded the plane that was taking us out of Central America and into Colombia. It was cheaper for us to transit through Bogota than fly directly up to …
Mud, glorious mud!
Cartagena, a beautiful Colombian colonial city. A good place to to make first impressions of this new and supposedly infamous country.
Unfortunately, despite being picturesque, lively, and full of activity it took only about an hour to spoil our impressions by an attempted pickpocketing. No harm done other than to Columbia´s reputation but …
Cartagena, the Latin American - New Orleans
We arrived in Cartagena after a short 5 hour bus ride. We stayed in a hostel just oustside the "inner" walled historic district (5 blocks away). The city is just beautiful! If you've ever been to New Orleans and Disneyland’s New Orleans Square, well.... imagine a city as beautiful as the one in Disneyland.
The city was full of …
