A fine budget option in the centre of town

Whilst here I stayed at Hotel Espana, Jr. Azangaro 105 (between Jr. Ancash and Jr. Junín), Tel: (+511) 428-5546, Web: www.hotelespanaperu.com . This is one of the more popular backpacker spots in downtown Lima and is ideally located three blocks from the Plaza de Armas. They offer a choice of rooms set over three floors of an elegant nineteenth century mansion that is full of fine artwork. A dorm is 16 soles; single is 33 or 45 soles - the latter with private bathroom; double is 45 or 55 soles - the latter with private bathroom and a triple is 57 or 66 soles with a private bathroom. They also have free Wi-Fi and a rooftop terrace that serves breakfast. If you ask for a bit of discount, and let them know that you intend on staying for three or more nights then they will discount the private room rates.

    Re Peru, Lima

    June 2nd, 2015

I've been in South America for the last five months. It has been super. This is the last post in a blog of 65,000 words – something for me to read on a snowy winter evening.

Yesterday evening I met a Russian anthropologist, Pavel Bersnev, who is studying Shamans. He teaches in St. …
