... show´,,, CRAZY!! We did a lot more walking around in Rome just looking at random things and then hoped on a hop on hop off bus tour of the city. So we got to see a lot of different things and actually get to know what they were instead of just walking by them and saying ´there´s a fountain´. After we had completed the entire circuit of the bus tour we headed back to the hostel for dinner. Tonight it was Pizza and beer!<br><br ...
Rome, Lazio, Italy kkb-myadventure... ISola Tiberina, and Travstevere. The over all impression of this tour was not the grestest. Partly it was because of how tired we were. Partly it was because of the guide. The Jewish Ghetto is/was the oldest area of Jews outside of Israel. There really isn't much left of the Jewish Ghetto. We wandered around for quite a while, trying to imagine what it would have been like back then. Then we moved on to Isola Tiberina - the island ...
Rome, Lazio, Italy cheer4lvw... ultimate in looking at religious buildings. The Vatican is small for a state being only 1 km square and surrounded by walls. There are a number of museums which are seldom open to the public. We viewed huge tapestries, magnificent paintings in long hallways, the Sistine Chapel famous for Michelagelo's masterpieces not only on the ceiling but also the walls above the windows. We learnt a great deal about the technique he used to do these frescos and some odd facts. He wasn't ...
Rome, Lazio, Italy daviddx... Ages, it was believed that if one told a lie with one's hand in the mouth of the sculpture, it would be bitten off. The piece was placed in the portico of the Santa Maria in Cosmedin in the 17th century. The Mouth of Truth is most well known from its appearance in ...
Rome, Italy gracie1205... we made the bus, and then squeezing ourselves into way too small seats on a bus that was made for 30 seats and had 60. But, we made it. We arrived safely. And since I don't have pictures of us searching frantically on craigslist or cramming onto a Metro train, you've been looking at where we're staying now. And it's a welcome sight after our complicated journey (metro > bus > plane > bus > metro > ...
Rome, Italy jasonandsarahOur cruise line was Royal Carribean, International. The ship was Legend of the Seas. The ship was beautiful. The main Dining hall (Romeo & Julliet) was beautiful, food and service were TERRIFIC all the time!!!! I can not say enough about how accomodating and helpful the entire staff was, from waiters to housekeeping. It was a nice change :) The only thing I did not like much was the ...

Rome, Italy brendonvdh... by Bernini, which portrays the Pope sitting among figures of Truth, Justice, Charity and Prudence. He also points out the Monument to Leo XI and the Tomb of Maria Clementina Sobieski as we make out way to the exit. We've spent most of the morning inside the basilica and Rob suggests we all split up for lunch and regroup in about an hour before heading off towards the Vatican Museums. Godwin and I walk down ...
Rome, Italy sharon1306... builders were originally from the alps, so their houses are more like small chalets. As Gelato Nico was closed, we walked up to Campo Santa Margherita, where we discovered Il Doge, which was close to the best gelato we had in Italy, and good value. We sat in the campo to eat it and watched students and their families celebrating their graduation. Many rounds of "Dotoro, dotoro etc etc". Also much excitment around the bars and cafes as Italy battled it out against Holland in the soccer.
