Never leave a roman behind!

After Travelling down the coast of Italy through Genova and the Cinque Terra, We finally arrove in Rome to our newest hostel, Colors. First thing is First, With the Vatican only a few blocks from our hostel we had to visit the holiest of roman catholic sites... Man, I really felt like i was burning inside, i was wearing a star of david at the vatican for god's sake!! Last night Robby and I went out to go on a bar crawl, but i decided not to go at the last moment, siting certain unknown circum...

When in Rome...!

... show´,,, CRAZY!! We did a lot more walking around in Rome just looking at random things and then hoped on a hop on hop off bus tour of the city. So we got to see a lot of different things and actually get to know what they were instead of just walking by them and saying ´there´s a fountain´. After we had completed the entire circuit of the bus tour we headed back to the hostel for dinner. Tonight it was Pizza and beer!<br><br ...

Colosseum by moonlight....can it get any better?

... ISola Tiberina, and Travstevere. The over all impression of this tour was not the grestest. Partly it was because of how tired we were. Partly it was because of the guide. The Jewish Ghetto is/was the oldest area of Jews outside of Israel. There really isn't much left of the Jewish Ghetto. We wandered around for quite a while, trying to imagine what it would have been like back then. Then we moved on to Isola Tiberina - the island ...

The Big Two of a Roman Holiday

... ultimate in looking at religious buildings. The Vatican is small for a state being only 1 km square and surrounded by walls. There are a number of museums which are seldom open to the public. We viewed huge tapestries, magnificent paintings in long hallways, the Sistine Chapel famous for Michelagelo's masterpieces not only on the ceiling but also the walls above the windows. We learnt a great deal about the technique he used to do these frescos and some odd facts. He wasn't ...

Travel day trials

... we made the bus, and then squeezing ourselves into way too small seats on a bus that was made for 30 seats and had 60. But, we made it. We arrived safely. And since I don't have pictures of us searching frantically on craigslist or cramming onto a Metro train, you've been looking at where we're staying now. And it's a welcome sight after our complicated journey (metro &gt; bus &gt; plane &gt; bus &gt; metro &gt ...

Royal Carribean

Our cruise line was Royal Carribean, International. The ship was Legend of the Seas. The ship was beautiful. The main Dining hall (Romeo &amp; Julliet) was beautiful, food and service were TERRIFIC all the time!!!! I can not say enough about how accomodating and helpful the entire staff was, from waiters to housekeeping. It was a nice change :) The only thing I did not like much was the ...

... by Bernini, which portrays the Pope sitting among figures of Truth, Justice, Charity and Prudence. He also points out the Monument to Leo XI and the Tomb of Maria Clementina Sobieski as we make out way to the exit. We've spent most of the morning inside the basilica and Rob suggests we all split up for lunch and regroup in about an hour before heading off towards the Vatican Museums. Godwin and I walk down ...

29th June 2000 Venice: Doge's Palace

... builders were originally from the alps, so their houses are more like small chalets. As Gelato Nico was closed, we walked up to Campo Santa Margherita, where we discovered Il Doge, which was close to the best gelato we had in Italy, and good value. We sat in the campo to eat it and watched students and their families celebrating their graduation. Many rounds of "Dotoro, dotoro etc etc". Also much excitment around the bars and cafes as Italy battled it out against Holland in the soccer.
