Andador Libertad, Oaxaca Puerto Escondido, Pacific Coast, Mexico
... around compared to the previous night. Puerto Escondido has huge surfing competitions and is known at the "Mexican pipeline", so the waves and undertows on the beach are pretty strong. While we had breakfast we watched the mexican families in the water. I dont think many people can actually swim here. They all go in about waist deep with floaties and things on, and look at Brendan and I really weird when we swim out into the deeper water. We also managed to spot one of the funniest ...
Puerto Escondido, Pacific Coast, Mexico solskjaer20...
puerto escondido, Mexico flitterjahr... Had intended to learn to surf at some point on the Pacific but the waves here were downright scarily big - only the very best surfers made it look easy - all these fit young lads were struggling and bruised, so what hope was there for an ancient overweight female with an injured foot - contented myself with watching their efforts! The waves were smaller at the far end of the beach, near the rocks where the beginners and local fishermen go, but busy ...
Puerto Escondido, Pacific Coast, Mexico ccchrissie... and walking into your room while you were asleep or in the shower. Sounds wierd but we all actually enjoyed staying in that place - as always cos of the people we were with. The town itself was a bit of a tatty has been with a beach you can't swim in cos its too rough. That would probably be why I didn't hang around all those years ago. We were glad to be staying out of town by a small pictoresque bay with breakers but ...
Puerto Escondido, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico bigtrip... everything was there and I tried to get her to take 100 pesos ($10) but she refused, I couldn't get her to take it. You have to understand that these people are really poor. Not destitute, but they really own very little. I honestly got choked up. I thanked her profusely and she smiled and I rode off beeping my horn, back down the road - a lot slower, and a lot happier. This was so much more than just getting my wallet back. If I had found it on the ...
Puerto Escondido, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico bocalee... it got confusing after awhile. My Spanish, for lying dormant for so long and being relatively weak to start with, is holding up fairly well, surprisingly well, confidently well. Which is not to say that it's good, of course. But entertaining. Planning on trying another beach today, and reveling in and getting used to the constantly strange feelings of traveling. I am thinking of you all and miss you in my own way and would welcome any news...a lot happens when one is away...
Puerto Escondido, Mexico traveese... Central America. Rain and hot weather never bother me, it is the poor road conditions that have me not wanting to be in the area. I am contemplating the Northern part of South America, Ecuador and the coast, Peru and Bolivia but need to do my research first. I can avoid all the rain by heading to the Southern Hemisphere in and around Chile and Argentina, but the weather is winter and yáll know how much I hate that ...
Puerto Escondido, Pacific Coast, Mexico roamingjodiWent to an all night dance party last night... it was amazing. Amazing DJ, everyone dancing on the beach under the stars, fire spinners... what more could you ask for??? The atmosphere was so accepting and fun that no one had any inhibitions to dance. It was great to dance without worrying about all the people around you. I hope there's another one this week so we can go again and stay until dawn.
Puerto Escondido, Mexico shef11308... The miles covered during those two days or 14 hours of driving was only 360. There are a few pictures of shrubbery we took along the way. The most notable shrubs - carvings of animals and many other types of art such as bells, arches people, etc. are along very busy streets with no stopping - our pictures were taken in safe havens. Besides their beauty, we took the pictures to show what a worker can do using only a machete - yes no clippers - power or manual ...
Puerto Escondido, Mexico spocream... than anywhere else in the world and I must agree with him. Along the highways, that's the main 'business' that can be seen everywhere and usually, several of them, all in a row. On the beaches, it's the same, one after another, after another. Another beach that we discovered was Carrizalillo. Not only was it a mouthful to pronounce, but a challenge to get to. I didn't even attempt it but Terry did.....once! To get to it ...
