One of the best hostels of our year in South America! Conveniently located near to the historic centre and bus station. Thoughtfully decorated throughout with fantastic travel pictures. The hostel is clean, bright and homely and provides really good information on all surrounding trips. The Scottish hostess, Kim, is very welcoming and makes a fantastic (and healthy!) breakfast at an excellent price. Highly recommended!

Only stayed one night as in a rush further south. The hostel was great and the guy running it so sweet and helpful.
Best bed we've had in colombia.... Omg we didn't want to get up when our alarm went off at 5:30am. Home from home even if just for 12 hours

The owners are really friendly and cool and provided all kinds of information about activities and sightseeing in Popayan. The rooms are simple but clean and comfortable. There is a great living room space, book exchange, kitchens, and little dining area. The location is very good and they hostel also organizes some activities. I would reccommend this to other travelers!

Great place run by a nice Scottish couple. The town can be a bit transient but worth a pit stop between going or coming from Ecuador.

The 8am bus from Ipiales to Popayan did not resemble the buses we had been accustomed to in Ecuador. Having heard the buses are good in Colombia, we were disappointed to be shown our minibus with very limited leg room, on which we would be for the next 8 hours. This bus seemed to stopping here, there and everywhere allowing …

During breakfast at the hostel we ran into a guy we knew from Quito and it was nice to chat to him about the way he had come in and what he had done etc. Then we met a Brit who had come through from Ipiales with the same bus company as us only 1 hour before us, the same bus we would have been on if we had decided not to go to the church, who told …

      A quiet colonial town...

Popayan is an elegantly preserved town, second only to Cartagena as Colombia's most impressive colonial settlement. In the late 1500s, it was a key stopping point on the route between Quito and Cartagena as the Spanish plunderers looted the continent of much of its gold. Its Spanish colonial architecture, with chalk-white houses, magnificent …

Popayan is the second colonial city in Colombia after Cartagena. It's pretty small, not largely touristy but is full of Spanish-colonial architecture and chalk-white buildings. There's also a clock tower in the centre where the clock was constructed in England and installed in 1737, repaired by the same company after the earthquake in 1983 however …

It is a bit of a trek, especially if your transport from Santa Marta is half an hour late, then you have to wait for another bus, then said bus has to get petrol, but the Parque National Tayrona is well worth it. There are no cars inside the park so it is a minimum 45 minute walk to the nearest campsite, and then further trekking through not very …
