... with the hill tribes but hearing it so bluntly really brought it home. It wasn't something that was really discussed whilst we were there with MAD. Apple, the 13 year old who is now 18 is studying in Chiang Rai and Amai is still in the village. Unfortunately I didn't get to see her because she was collecting snails to eat from the river and 'mum' couldn't' find her...
After we left Leepar we went to our guide's village, 'Appa', and learnt some more about the ...
... set aside every week. The nurse is so 'into it' she almost falls over herself trying to blurt out all the new dialogue. Honestly, it’s like having a big sponge in your face constantly. Such a hunger to learn. After the lesson they took me to meet ‘mama’ and ‘grandmamma’, then drove me miles out to a place that did steaks and bought me a big fat steak ...
Chiang Rai, Thailand scottwozThis was not our most joyous day. After a rushed get up and not feeling great after a poor night's sleep we were thrust onto a horrible bus with, no offence, what seemed like thousands of irish people shouting and sweating. Thus our journey began, i wont go into detail but we went from bus 1 to bus 2 to bus stop 1 to tuk tuk 1, to Vientiane for no lunch as tuk tuk 2 arrived ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand corkie... the trek, and unfortunately got pretty sick... uugghh!! I've eaten insects, raw meat, street food, and stuff from the most unsanitary of places - and been perfectly fine... but what gets me sick when I go to SE Asia.... a CALIFORNIA BURRITO!!! ...fitting I guess! All is better now thanks to some great antibiotics - and now I'm ready to tackle some new adventures!
Next Stop Laos!!!
... here, and now this village has the best water in the area and the only underground water source. The Lord totally blessed them, and now they even have a water business as well which was one of the leader's dreams. She also dreamt that they would have a center in the city of Chiang Mai, but houses cost about US $60,000 there. Sure enough, God gave them land and a house, and the house actually already had a water ...
Musagee, Chiang Mai, Thailand erincastillo... bit tedious but overall we thoroughly enjoyed telling everyone that we're homeless and jobless and have no use for silk bed spreads or silver jewelery. Later that night, we boarded the night bus down to bangkok. We really enjoyed our time in Chiang Mai and it is highly recommended, although we were bitterly disappointed that we didn't get to experience it in full but, at least we've figured out how to extend our visa at last. I'll let Katie tell you all about that though. Over and out x.
Chiang Mai, Thailand katieandphill... 5:30, I lay on the porch of my bungalow or on the bed and napped or read. I haven't had a day like that in ages. Even in Japan, when I lay down to rest, I always think of something that needs to be done before I forget and find myself constantly getting up. That day though I couldn't think of anything that needed done, anywhere I needed to go, or anything I really wanted to do for that matter. It was blissful ennui. I finally roused myself from my lethargy to walk ...

Chiang Mai, Thailand culv3r...
Chiang Rai, Thailand jhump28... room. then there is always a bar below or across the road that seems to never stop partying. then when the bars finally stop, you think "aaah bliss". then alongs comes mr cockrel!! i could safely say that i would wipe this creature from existence if i could. i love animals, but this one could be destroyed with my blessing! its not as if its dawn or the sun is coming up. the ones here seem to have lost their role in life and start "cockledoodling" whislt ...
