The place is situated 2 blocks back from the ferry terminal making it a great location. It is off a main road so not noisy, and there is an internet cafe next door, and an Oxxo (like a 7Eleven) a few doors down. HIghly recommended.

This is the worst hostel I've ever seen. It is dirty (dorms, bathrooms wih full bins), no windows in the unique dorm, staff really unfriendly. There is a nice common area outside, on the roof, but if it's the rainy season which is pretty long in Mexico, there is NO common area inside...So we stayed at the reception, closing the door but they were always opening this door (it was cold) because...this is what the owner wants. They take advantage that they are the cheapest ones in terms of "hostel", but you could pay more and get a nice place.

    Cozumel, pristine dive spot

We checked out of the hostel in Tulum Pueblo and headed to the collectivo point. We took a super cheap collectivo the 60km or so to Playa del Carmen. We zipped along and arrived in what felt like no time at all. Here, we wandered the 4 blocks to the port, bought a ticket for the next ferry heading to Cozumel, and waited a little while for it to …

... amp; pedicure for the past month. Of cause this slapped a huge smile on my face, a beautiful start to the day. It was truly incredible, we all slipped our kayak's into the calm flat water. The ocean was so clear, nothing could hide as we paddled through the pristine water. The sun was pelting down but it was an incredible experience wadding through the shallow waters looking for sea life. After spending a good 40mins in the water Stuie asked me to paddle back ...

During the introduction we were also given an outline of our first week - we knew then that our "chilling" time was going to be put on hold as each day was scheduled from 8am to 9pm...this group is slightly more organised than our volunteering in Utila! It was nice getting to know the GVI crew over the weekend and making the most of beach time before our Monday morning start. Jim and Sian ...

... Belize City. Stopping at La Gala to expand the beer book, they played some big tunes (adrenaline) and we looked forward to a nice meal and 11.30pm bus. Then the Kiwis found us. Safe to say we all had a beer too many, missed our bus and were more than welcome to stay the night with the ...

... was nice. Orlando knew that I wanted to see a seahorse so he took us out into the sand/grasses. This was a huge area, but he managed to find me a seahorse! We also saw queen angelfish, gray angelfish, grunts, chromis, and lots of others. Emily also found cuttlefish!
Bad news: the wire going from my camera to the flash broke. This leaves my dive camera essentially useless. Paul and I spent a chunk of the ...
