The place is situated 2 blocks back from the ferry terminal making it a great location. It is off a main road so not noisy, and there is an internet cafe next door, and an Oxxo (like a 7Eleven) a few doors down. HIghly recommended.

This is the worst hostel I've ever seen. It is dirty (dorms, bathrooms wih full bins), no windows in the unique dorm, staff really unfriendly. There is a nice common area outside, on the roof, but if it's the rainy season which is pretty long in Mexico, there is NO common area inside...So we stayed at the reception, closing the door but they were always opening this door (it was cold) because...this is what the owner wants. They take advantage that they are the cheapest ones in terms of "hostel", but you could pay more and get a nice place.

I drank the water in the restaurants and hope it was bottled though they poured it from silver pitchers. (I didn't get sick this time!) Plenty of bread, chips, tortillas. The guacamole was the creamiest I've ever eaten. Cava is available as is a ...

... but poor Nick just went a deeper shade of pink.

We spent some time in Tulum which is a town outside of Playa Del Carmen. It was ok but quite touristy. We also visited Coba which was far more interesting and had extensive Mayan ruins inside the tropical forest just outside the town. We also saw a couple of crocodiles in the lake which was cool.

Playa del Carmen is gorgeous and we had an awesome chilled time, for that we give Playa del Carmen a great ...
