Hostel Zeus Athens

It was really difficult to leave Santorini. But its always fantastic to travel and visit new places. Although we were in Athens already (literally 10 mins) we did not see any of the historic sites. August 3rd Our trip through the islands ends here and we hace to go back to the greek capital. This time we're not arriving at the principal port, Pireus; we leave Mykonos at 1:15 p.m and arrive at Rafina's port five hours later, and then we take a bus to Athens. July 26 Our flight from Barcelona arrives to Athens at 3:30 a.m soooo we sleep a few hours at the greek airport because we can't entry to the hostel till 7:00 (comfortable airport, by the way!). Later we take a bus to Sintagma Square, the heart of Athens, and metro to Omonia. The Hostel Zeus is a few minutes from there, in a small, scary, dirty street. Our first impression is running out of that place inmediatly but that it's one of the cheaper hostels in the city so... there's no choice! we'...

Caught the train back to Athens arriving about 12am. Stayed in my favorite place, Hostel Zeus ;) Not in the best area, but the guy at the desk hooks me up and it is super cheap! (12 euros a night). In the morning I went to the National Archaeological Museum before catching the noon train to Corinth.

Well, what can i say about greece? OMG...i must say, i have to thank Konstampolus, he was a Greek guy who lived in Athens for a while and studied linguistics and currently lives in Salzburg, Austria with his polish girlfriend. Get this, he speaks English, Greek, German and he's learning Polish. That lucky *******. It was with somber faces that we bid farewell to Santorini and boarded Highspeed 1, a colossal catamaran, back to Athen's port town of Piraeus. After a six hour journey, we arrived and took the Metro (Athen's super modern subway) to Monastiraki Station and made our way to Zeus Hostel. We woke up early this morning to catch a ferry boat to the greek island Paros. Got down to the port of Piraeus and found out that all the ferries were booked until the next afternoon. We wouldn't have enough time to see the island if we left in the afternoon, so we went to a travel agency we found in the back of our Eurail guide book.

At the travel agency, we were able to book a roundtrip ferry to the island of Aegina for 28 Euros total! This was much better than the 78 euros we would...
