I am so far behind with this blog. Partly, it's because we have traveled every single month during 2009. There's so much to tell & show that unless I write every week, I'm always several trips behind. The other problem is ...
Naples, Campania, Italy amboughOla Kala: simply, OK (in Greek). No time for lots of flap.....we're on the go. The Vatican Museums await us (and we can hardly wait to do more walking!). Enjoy the pictures and we'll fill you in on the adventure next time I make the time to sit and gab.
We're still having a grand time!!!!!
... 6 or 7 music stores in 1 block- one of which had guitars, lutes and other stringed instruments dating back to the late 1800's.
Also discovered that the food options in Naples are a lot better than northern Italy with a lot more meat based snacks and fried snacks available to eat whilst wandering the streets.
No wonder northern Italians are so skinny and short - their food options for decent snacks are so limited compared to the south ...
... accent) It is now held together with clear packaging tape and amazingly still makes pretty decent sound, unless you're playing on the frets where there is tape. Celia and I volunteered to go pick up some wine for dinner. There was this little shop near the base of the steps, so we had to go down and up them again. Not a huge deal since we weren't carrying our bags anymore. We asked for vino nero, because they call this kind of red wine black for some reason here. 5 liters of ...
Amalfi Coast, Campania, Italy jerryruth... bit like he lived 10 seconds from a knife fight at all times. After the conductor (or, the guy wearing the conductor's shirt...) admonished him not to smoke, he pulled back the gaskets on the doors and stuck his face and lit cigarette out of the moving train. He took an interest in my Dad who did a wonderful job of ignoring him. Arriving in Castellammare, we discovered a large mixed crowd of hangers out and dogs who were passing the ...
Castellammare di Stabia, Italy robcoyle... they were tucked away with tons of pots and things they had recovered from the city. it was really neat to see that they were still excavating it after all these years. we made it back to the platform to catch the train back to Naples so we could catch another train to Florence. As usual, the train was super late but it was ok because we met 2 really nice Canadians from Vancouver who were traveling around for their 25th wedding anniversary. we chatted with ...
