A couple of days in Prague

Made it to Prague on Friday after a 6 hour train trip. Got really lost trying to get to the hostel and ended up jumping in a cab to get there. Prague is really lovely. The entire city has cobblestones and it is the only city that i have been to so far that has been like this. Even the bridges across the rivers are cobble stone. It also has really tall building that are lots of different pastel colours. It really feels like you have stepped back in time. There is just so much to see and do here...

You are Americans! I love America

Prague was friggin amaying I will right more when I get back I have been taking notes of everything on paper since most of my internet time is limited due to expensive internet cafes. On a side note if you order Turkish coffee make sure you allow the grinds to settle before you take a sip.

In the beginning...

May 16, 2009 We arrived in Prague and got settled into the Hostel Tyn, which is conveniently located in the Old Town Square. First things first...dinner at the brewery... Jeff is thrilled with the cheap cost of beer here and has all of the breweries mapped out around town. We milled around town for a little while before heading across the St. Charles Bridge to sneak a peek at the Prague Castle. Undaunted by the steep climb to the castle, we passed by all sorts of restaurants and vendors...but...

Just meet me at the Clocktower

Just arrived to Prague this afternoon to meet up with my buddy Lee who was studying in Wittenburg, Germany. The train ride over was pretty interesting sitting next to a guy who had been to over 150 countries and seemed to know everyone in the world from Strom Thurman to JFK to "one of those Saudi princes." Not only did he know them, he was good friends with most of them too, and I quote "Old Strom was a hell of a dancer, even at 92, he was a hell of a dancer...would dance all night if they le...

Special Price for You!

Still in Prague...and loving it just as much as I did 6 years ago...even recognizing some things from last time-the five story dance club, the McDonalds where I drank my first McBeer the special prices (some guy even told us that he had a special price for us, all of our friends, and everyone else)-needless to say we didnīt feel all that special after knowing all that, and the crazy justifications (some other guy told us that we had to eat the ice cream inside his restaurant because it was to...

Sightseeing in Prague

We arrived to Prague by train three days ago. Our train ride was very interesting because we shared the cabin with two other foreigners, one man was from Ethiopia and the other from Iran. We had a long conversation with both men, both of whom were only able to speak broken English, about politics, stereotypes, culture, family life and education in their respective countries. Three continents in four seats... it was pretty amazing!! We are staying at a small hostel, Tyn, in the middle of town....

Czech yourself before you wreck yourself (prague)

Zoe and I have arrived in Prague! We both loved Prague immediately, its a very beautiful city with lots to do. Our hostel is in the best possible location, its dead center in old town, or Stare Mesto. Its the most touristy part of the city, but its also where all the coolest stuff is. Yesterday after settling in to our hostel, we walked around and checked out all of the sights. We walked around old town, the old jewish quater, and across Charles bridge to Prague Castle. Today we took the one ...

We're in Bohemia!

After running down to the Nasch Markt early this morning to get some pastries and fruit for the train ride to Prague, we took the tram to the train station and off we went.

It was a four hour ride to Prague, known inside the Czech Republic as Praha. The Czech Republic itself was known as Bohemia for many centuries,

So here we are in Bohemia with our Bohemian daughter and her Bohemian grandmother.

It is a beautiful city. Much more so than we expected.

After checking...

... doubt saw his years out in a past life in the backwaters of Frankston. Upon return to the lavish apartment 'round sixish, i woke Pam and Phil from their afternoon nana nap and joined Pam for a trundle down to the supermarket for more supplies. Purchasing another crate of 1/2 litre bottles of Pilsener, we arrived back to the apartment to discover that Phil had misinterpreted the plan, and had also bought an additional crate of Pilsener. Looks like we ...
