Today was very exciting, we set off early in the car to travel over the border into the Czech Republic. we collected two friends of Elfi and Gottfried inLinz, and it took about 2 hours to drive. The border was very disappointing! No guards, no passport control!
The countryside was lovely, lots of forests and alongside the Moldau river, which is a centre for lots of water sports.

A while later, after further strolling through the city we sat down for dinner in one of Emma's favourite restaurants and had some hearty Czech fare, Roast Duck and Bread Dumpings for Andy and Chicken Breast with Potatoes for Emma, this time more Gluten friendly!

... we decided to keep the sporty vibe going and hiked up to the top of Krizovy vrch (Cross Hill), a small hill on the outside of town, at the top of which is a closed chapel and some precious views with hardly another person. We walked back through the City Park, and after another lunch by the river, we ventured into the castle, to the top of the tower for more splendid views. ... about this. I liked the salt mine but thought it was more about what they made out of the salt mine, instead of mining the salt. This was all about mining the graphite. It seemed like when they decided to close the mine, they just dropped everything and left. And now as tourists, we get to suit up in full mine gear and go in. We got to ride a little train about a kilometre in, not down as this is just straight into the mountain. There we explored the grey marble ...
