Vienna

We made it to Vienna after a few hours on the train where it once again started raining. It was still quite cold here but still warmer than it was in Bratislava. The first day we checked out the cathedral which was really good. It was gothic style and quite black as they are in the middle of cleaning after a fire a few years earlier. We also visited the palace complex which is huge! We wandered around the grounds a bit and just took in the sites. The next day we went on a walking tour of Vien...

Vienna

Vienna It was quite cold and we couldn't see much out of the windows on the hydrofoil. It took about two hours to get to Vienna, and we arrived there early evening. We got the U-Bahn to Westbahnhof and walked to the hostel we had booked. We were in a room with an Australian girl called Carly who gave us some tips about places to go in Vienna. The hostel (Hostel Ruthensteiner) was very clean and very "travellery" with a bar, kitchen, internet access and lots of rooms. That evening we played sc...

Leaving Vienna

We ended up staying 2 nights in Vienna, both at Hostel Ruthensteiner (15e each per night) good hostel recommended. After checking in, jumping on the internet and then spending the late arvo chatting with our roomates (Fabio the italian stallion, Gene from NY, and a couple of Belgium boys) it was off to 2 bars, first the Down Under bar and then Pandoras box...Sam, Gene and I had a good night even though the town seemed like a ghost town (suprising as there were so many people on the streets th...

King of Vienna

Imagin walking through endless gardens glancing at magnificent palaces with blue skys and thinking abouth how the kings of the past had strolled around at the very place you are stnding. Vienna was an amazing city with the greatest vibe that i have experianced in any other city in the world. I stayed in model form of the perfect hostel and admired the city for its great parks and friendly people. It was trendy and modern but at the same time maintaining its classy backround. We had good beer ...

Oh the cities I´ve seen...

Hello from Vienna, Austria - and woot! On an English keyboard for the first time in 2 weeks, yay!

I haven´t gotten to blog much the last few days, and for that I apologize! I´ve been busy and without internet access. So, I last wrote to you all from Freiburg, Germany I believe, and since then I´ve explored other cities in Germany, namely Nuremberg, Germany and the heart of Bavaria in the lovely city of Regensberg. Nuremberg was a great stopover city - I met a cool girl from California ...

Gruss gott from Vienna. (The speak german in austria but there are some variations) arrived on wed after a 7/8hr train (which left at 7am) journey and after trekking to our hostel using public transport in the scorching heat with our rucksacks we decided to give ourselves the day off. we had arrived quite late anyway. first thing, got some cold beers and sat in the garden. the hostel we were staying in is quite nice - close to a major metro station, good facilitites (including a bar) and a ni...

I'm That Girl

So after sleeping until Noon (completely needed) Andrew and I met up with Drew and Ashley and headed out to see the palace, Sisi Museum, and Royal Apartments. Pretty cool. It is incredibly hot in Vienna, so that makes getting up and going really hard, and has left me feeling pretty tired during the day no matter how much sleep I get or how much water I drink. After this we walked down to the river. Andrew and Drew hung out at a bar that was on a small, make-shift beach with sand and beach cha...

Liebe Gruesse aus Wien!

Huzzah! I am in Vienna and not dead. This in itself is an achievement. However I am running out of battery, which is not so much of an achievement and as my hostel is spread over 3 houses and my adaptor is across the road in a locker, I will be keeping this brief. (By my standards!!) After the most eventful airport trip I've had in a while (charged for overweight baggage, frisked, AND had my handluggage searched, before ryanair changed the sign from 'wait' to 'final call' without any 'go to g...

Starting Work... eeek!!

Firstly, ITS RAINING!! I have broken the weather. Oops. Its nice though, down to *only* 23! Unfortunately according to the ever reliable bbc weather, it's climbing back up from tomorrow. Tea was an after eight icecream in an Eiskaffee on the Mariahilferstrasse, only cost 4.50 which was waaay less than I was expecting for Wien. I then went and watched the football with Lee (my friend from German who's here for a year with a logistics firm) on Heldenplatz, right outside the Austrian houses of p...

Delicious pastries and water Apr. 10+11

We started our day getting a bus to Ceske Budejovice in order to get to a train station to leave the Czech Republic. The bus driver was very nice and we made it to the train in time after some help from a friendly ticket sales lady at the train station. Instead of paying over 1100 Kc, we only paid about 80--score! She sold us a ticket to the border town of Summerau, and we thought that we needed to get off in order to use our railpass for the rest of the trip. (Our pass is only for Austria an...
