  • Singapore is one of the world's major commercial hubs, with the fourth-biggest financial centre and one of the five busiest ports.
  • Singapore retains a lot of English heritage today. They drive on the left, have English power sockets and they serve fish and chips everywhere!

    ... to say a big thank you to Cat, my former colleague who very kindly put together a few bits and sent them to over to me - they included notes from 2 more of my former colleagues, the latest BCC catalogue (signed by models Jo and Cat), 2 nail varnishes and a tin of vaseline! Only the last item was a request from me, so thanks Cat for the thoughtful parcel.

    PS - I'm watching Escape to the County on BBC Lifestyle. The couple are moving away from Ilford! Bit of a co-incidence eh?

    ... to the Gardens on the Bay to walk on the SkyWalk, an elevated walkway and to watch the light show. Unfortunately there was the odd spot of rain and they suspended the Walkway entry until it stopped raining.

    We wandered around the gardens and then sat on some steps until time for the 7:45 light show. Everyone sat on the steps apart from a small group of elderly Aussie women who moved to one of the front steps to get a better view. ...
