... 12-14 bus rides with A/C and reclining leather chairs is a breeze after the stuffy, hot, dusty Africa bus over the same duration. The only complaint is the overnight buses do not offer much chance to view the stunning landscapes of Argentina as you travel. ... great dinner by Carlos, all of us at the work the world house decided to sample the night life that Mendoza has to offer (and taste the local popular spirit- Fernet) We were also joined by Carla and Christian- some of the staff at work the world. Although the people here don't tend to go out utill 1am and come back at 6 am, our night didn't end too late as we had to be up bright and early for white water rafting the next morning- a must for anyone visiting ...

It took a ten hour bus ride to get there. The buses are actually quite comfortable, and I was able to sleep (although very superficially) on the trip. I was lucky enough to not have someone sitting next to me, so I got to spread out over TWO seats. Well, for my size that's enough to make a nice bed out of it.

We had an early start this morning, up at 7 to be ready and have eaten something by the time our tour to the low Andes and Villavicencio arrived at 9. Lucky for us we had given ourselves plenty of time because the tour bus showed up around 8:30. Most of the other people on the tour were from Buenos Aires, but thankfully the tour guide also spoke English, so we were able to get an interpretation of the history.

Monday - 12 hour nightbus to Sucre, arrived at 4.30am, spent the day in Sucre
Tuesday - Tried to take a nightbus to Villazon but after 8.5 hours on a freezing bus returned to Sucre because of a road block
Wednesday - Got another 11 hour bus to Villazon, then immeadiately crossed the border to Argentina and onto a 4hr night bus to Jujuy, then 2 more hrs on to Salta
