... tame nature of the water. Thankfully I was rescued by a lady in her mid 60s, Rach and Ceri were SOTRL'ing*.Christine you absolute hero. Our advance North was temporarily delayed by a transport strike in Argentina. We gave hitch hiking a shot but soon ran out of food and packed it in, this despite morale being kept aloft by Rach and Ceri's various duets*. The following day, Argentina was open again and we were back on the move. Our next stop was the hippy town of El Bolson where ...

Mendoza knows how to party! Luckily for us we had decided to spend four nights here instead of Buenos Aires. We bought our tickets whilst in Chile and they turned out to be 50 cheaper for the two of us than if we bought them in Argentina. Neverheard of the bus company though!.... The city is in full on Miss Queen of the vineyards and this weekend is the final choosing of the Queen. Friday night we had been told about the street procession with all ...

The anger is evident among the people of Argentina, I told myself that its probably best not to being it up in conversation with the locals we are set to meet over the next couple of weeks. She gave us a lovely welcome ...

I hung around the hostel in the morning, in a mix of laziness & admin. We really could've left today but we aren't too sure if buses run out of Salta (the next stop) everyday and don't want to be trapped there. In the afternoon Rach, Viv and I headed to the big park on the edge of the city. Today isn't as oppressively hot as the last couple of days, which is a nice reprieve. It is also a bank holiday so the town like yesterday is desserted with most ...

... off this tour on a high…also made our 19hr bus journey that night to Salta more appealing.

Arriving the next afternoon in Salta we were again spent after spending the best part of a day on a bus, albeit in ‘semi-camo’ seats, we ventured to our accommodation we had booked the previous day, a ‘holiday house’ (NB do not leave booking accommodation to the day before, all the decent pads are gone). We had planned on staying ...
