... started at 8pm would be over in 30 mins and to come back for the 11pm performance - which looked like some sort of DJ....???
Checked out a few Sarajevo bars instead - City Pub, Cheers (which proudly proclaims that it was established in 2008!!) and some other bars I can't remember the names of.
Saturday went back to Bosna for a burek breakfast - yummo!!
Did a walking tour of Sarajevo with Arijan which was good. Learnt and saw ...
... track, but were slightly perturbed when we were told by the tour guide not to cross the road because on the other side was an unexploded mine field. On the same thought, "UXB" apparently means Unexploded Bombs.
Further on this mountain was the headquarters for the Serbian Army throughout the war. From the headquarters they were able to lead the Siege of ...
... what seemed like forever for the three ladies in front of us to use the toilet. Sam then managed to negotiate a deal with a waitress at the restaurant where we could buy a lamb sandwich and be able to use kuna rather than marks, now that we were in Bosnia. We were excited about getting some food and waited, and waited for it to be prepared. Our time was up and Sam went out to the bus to hold them up while I kept waiting for our sandwiches. After a couple minutes, Sam ...
Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina nicky_s... exploration of the city we found the awesome outdoor market, the ubuquitous river, a political rally and the Latin Bridge which is the sight of the assasination of Franz Ferdinand, starting World War I. There is a funny little museum and a plaque to commemorate this moment.
Bosnia is a striking contrast to Mostar because a lot of money has been pumped into this capital city to rebuild it after ...

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina michlac... settled and much of the trading took place. Now it is mostly souvenir shops and a few, not many, craft shops. It is a nice place to be which tourist can't miss. The shots which started WW1 fell in Sarajevo. I think everybody has heard about the shots in Sarajevo? Franz Ferdinand was shot on 28. June 1914 [I thought it was november 7.?] in protest against the empire. These shots led to a war between the empire and the Serbs which again led to WW1. The shots fell on the latin ...
Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina ingridt... like because the medium was VERY BIG... it definitely made me feel better again. I was alone in the hostel which was very good. I slept for 11hrs the first night. The next morning a guy from Sheffield checked into the hostel. We talked some, head into the city and then split our ways. I decided to go to the 'Sarajevo Tunnel Museum' first. During the war the Bosnians dug a tunnel from the western part of Sarajevo to a nearby town in Bosnian territory. Because the Serbs ...
Sarajevo, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina travel_chrisThis is Lily. After stumbling out of the night train compartment to Sarajevo, I look out the window and saw broken windows and doors from gunfire, and thought, "dang, where the heck am I? where has my brother taken me?" I think it was a combination of just rolling out of bed and being hurried out of the train that gave me a sense of teleporting through. From charming little lake town Bled to war-torn Bosnia. well, here's to nothing... we step off the ...
Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina lilyc... everyone has piled onto their tour buses and headed back to Dubrovnik. The Turkish House (supposedly an authentic house from about 350 years ago) was disappointing, but other than that it was a great day. If you are headed to Mostar: 1) Go to Grill Centar for lunch. Yum! The cevapci and the grilled chicken were both delicious. 2) Catch up on your email/blogging. We paid only about 1 KM per hour each - that's about 75 cents, and far cheaper than anything else we've ...
Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina mskinner96Packed up and moved out of Texas to go to Sarajevo to be with Leon. There everything is shot to pieces. Mortar holes in the streets filled with red epoxy - referred to as Sarajevo Roses. Blown up buildings with the most beautiful rose bushes in front. Learned some disheartening things about NATO forces - they are not always the Good Guys ...
