Hostel Independencia Mendoza

Well what a couple of days it has been! I am sitting here in the Hostel Indepencia which is bang smack in the middle of town in Mendoza. The journey here was quite crazy. I had to board a bus from Buenos Aires' infamous bus terminal where I missed my bus last time. This time I was determined it would not happen again and relished at the challenge to make it to my bus. Only spent one day here this time as I had to get to Santiago for Friday evening, but will return to Mendoza on my way back to Buenos Aires. I had a really good day here though, the hostel was really nice and there were lots of great people there. Back in Mendoza! I arrived here at about 8pm and being the great hostel that it is, I managed to get included in a group cook! We had teryaki steak, salad and a great soup with chorizo sausage in it! And they thought they'd got rid of us... James and Jonny tried to adopt another couple Mike from Devon and Victoria from Glasgow but it turned out we all got along great. The lads bonded quickly by becoming addicted to ping pong and played on a regular basis into the wee hours of the morning. Mendoza & Los Penitentes - Argentina's wine capital meets the segregated village in the outskirt of Aconcagua - the contrast could not be very different. Mendoza, including its wine resort of Maipu, offers a relaxed atmosphere embedded in enjoyful wine tasting where as Los Penitentes has probably a dozen inhabitants but hundreds of daily heavy trucks that drive through to foster the economic relationship between Argentina and Chile.
