Roma, After an incredible, fun, crazy, tiring and unforgettable week in Rome I think it's fair to say you haven't really been to Europe until you have been to Rome. The city really started europe as we know it (sure the greeks invented democracy and philosophy). From Rome came London, Barcelona and many other great cities (yes.. i cant think of them atm!) As has been said many times, Rome is a living museum - and unlike some other cities I have visited the Living part should be emphasised. De...

Here we are after 3 amazing nights in Italy's Capital. Rome is a great city, my 2nd favourite so far behind Munich. Its big and very HOT! My stupid cough started again but some italian in the chemist sorted me out with some disgusting medicine. We stayed in 'Guys Paradise' hostel (full of female staff..hence the name). It was unique, they give you free food at night (massive bowl of spaghetti bolognase, and free beer...yes...FREE BEER!!!!!! wahooo The first day in Prague we had a quick rest b...

Hi all :) As yuo could see fromteh previous posts photos, we went to see the Pope on wednesday. Was weird, like he qwas a popstar. The girl next to Kirsty was crying and screaming...weiirddd. Was extrememly hot (i think 36/37) that day, so we didnąt stay long, but we did see him in the pope-mobile, about 7m in front of us. That afternoon we went off the the Spanish steps and looked around all the expensive shops there, prada, gucci etc. We didnąt really go iside, althought the cheaper ones we...

Friday, May 13, 2005 The first order of business was to visit the Canadian Embassy (a 20 minute walk from our hostel) in order to obtain my mail sent from home containing a working CS Coop debit card. The one I brought with me has not worked at all this entire trip and I've been receiving charity from my companions. We stayed with a company called Hostel Guy's Paradise that provides free dinner and booze, breakfast and internet. The meals are large and the booze has been plentiful. We started...

... uvic as well. We talked about our travels so far and where we
were headed next. We got a group of us and headed down to a separate
section of the bar that had a beer pong table. Of course I was going
to play so I grabbed a pitcher of beer and found a girl to be on my
team so we could challenge the winners. My teammate was from
Washington DC and she has just started her travels in Europe. We

... reached the Spanish Steps again, which are also impressive at night when lit up. I was going to hop on the Metro and ride it back to my hostel, but it was already closed up (it was only 10:30 PM). The hours of the Metro are definitely sketch, considering it's a Friday night. So I ended up hoofing it back to the hostel. I got to walk through some cool areas though, including near the Villa Borghese, down Via Veneto (one of the trendier streets - the Hard ...

... hundreds of people in the most grand St. Peter's Basilica. Here, from the dome to the floor, from the chapels to the statues, every piece is a masterpiece of great religious and artistic significance. Tons of people with tons of cameras. By the time we finished our tour of the Basilica, the Dome and the Square, we had walked for 9 hours. My feet were aching and Chris claimed that his legs were shaking. But the day was far from over! Gianfranco reappeared and took ...

... I have not washed any clothes yet, but not having dryer dried clothes does not sound appealing to me, and we are searching for a laundry mat that we can use. I think that's it. I miss people, and love hearing what's going on in Spokane, Prineville, and wherever else you are...so keep writing. Love, KD My phone number: +39 (Italy country code) 335-789-1261 If you feel the urge to call, I would love to hear from you...just remember that I'm 9 hours ahead of the West coast.

... useless. Mary loves pasta, but because of Julian's diabetes, rarely cooks it anymore. She had explained that because of the heat and various other factors, Italy doesn't produce cream (Do you thing they use all their milk for cheese of one type or another???). The best you can do is buy imported cartons of cooking cream. This is what I had planned to use. Revised plans. I chopped up the asparagus stems, and mint, oregano, parsley and basil ...
