Palpana 6 San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, 17000000, 56-055-823503
Tuesday 7th April - Thursday 9th April Our flight to Antofagasta was a bit of a mistake. I hadnīt noticed on the maps that a town called Calama was closer to San Pedro de Atacama, and also had an airport! Our brief arrival into Antofagasta signalled an immedate change in climate. We were running away from the...

San Pedro de Atacama, Chile jonsharland... sisters among others. It was a really fascinating night and we could actually take photos of the objects through the lense which was a great momento.

The next day we headed back into the desert for the three lakes excursion. They first took us to a salt lake which has a higher density of salt than the dead sea. When you swam in it you couldn´t go underwater because the salt pushed you up and so you were just floating on top with out any effort ...

San Pedro de Atacama, Chile vicandmon... this height before and we feel a great sense of achievement as we stand on top of the world. In the clear, dry but v**y cold air we can see for miles in all directions. Our guide, Alvarro, points out the Lascar volcano, the most active in the region last **upting in 2007, and anoth** volcano that we can see v**y clearly but is 150km away. We have fabulous views down onto the Atacama salt flats, the ‘white lagoon’, the high plains that we have travelled through ...
San Pedro de Atacama, Chile suenson_taylors... back where we had a look at a white-washed blue-framed church and I chased llamas around the town trying to get photos of them.

Our last stop was very nice and refreshing swim in a natural hot spring. It was ten minute walk down a rocky canyon and contained the only plants and greenery we have seen in days. Back to town at about 2pm for a few afternoon local beers in the hostel´s courtyard.
San Pedro de Atacama, Antofagasta, Chile tlgaustralia... Rocking up in this little town at 9pm and finding a place to sleep was pretty easy and the plan for the next few days was to do a couple of trips to see the surrounding area (mountain biking, walks and several tours) then head off into Bolivia. That was the plan until Ang's kidney decided to get infected...

And a nasty little infection it was too. She started feeling a little average on our last day in Easter Island and by the ...
San Pedro de Atacama, Chile theblakes... he felt nauseous. Celia stayed up for a bit longer and had some soup before also going to bed. The following morning Lee was feeling a lot better but it was Celia's turn to suffer as her head felt like it was going to explode and she was being sick. After breakfast we packed up our stuff and headed to the stone trees - these were pretty cool and good for climbing but Celia just sat on a rock still feeling unwell so was unable to really enjoy ...
