okay... i donīt have that much time to write as iīve been on skype and couldnīt talk and type at the same time... iīll edit this a little later, maybe tomorrow, so stay tuned... ... but i did want to let everyone know that i hung out with whales a few days ago. and peguins. yup. and the trip with the whales was, easily, one of the more important, significant moments in my life (and zac will attest to that fact). We were able to, for about an hour, be within 1-3 meters of these large (10-15 me...
Puerto Madryn, Patagonia, Argentina briancordovaOur first sight of Patagonia was when we woke up on the bus at around 6am; we were astonished to see vast open plains full of scrub land and not much else, not even a hill. After a doze, we woke up at 9am to see more scrub land and vast open plains. The bus finally stopped at 2pm after 8 solid hours of driving through some of the most uninspiring, flattest scenery imaginable. Where were the hills and the beautiful countryside Patagonia is famous for? After a day of rest we decided to visit a ...
Puerto Madryn, Patagonia, Argentina caroline_littleDan We have been to the Valdez Peninsula over the last few days to see some whales. Its pretty far south Argentina, about 15 or so hours from Buenos Aires on bus. We thought this wouldn't be too bad but this turned into our worst bus ride due mainly to some particularly unhelpful service from the bus company, my incompetence and a drugs bust, which i hasten to add was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with me and James. The bus we missed was supposed to leave BA at 6pm, however we sat in front of it, ...
Puerto Madryn, Patagonia, Argentina jimanddanI had a notion of what to expect from Puerto Madryn. I had read about the beach, and heard people talk about the whales, penguins, sea lions. My experience however was quite unexpected. Puerto Madryn was an 8 hour bus ride from Viedma and we followed the coast almost the whole way. Pulling into the town, the first thing you notice is a huge factory. Apparently itīs the second largest aluminum factory in the world. The hostel we stayed at was typical to what I have encountered in Argentina, it...

... br><br>8th – Went for a short stroll to see the remains of the original cave dwellings used by the first Welsh settlers when they landed in 1865. The caves themselves were dug out from the soft sandstone, the blocks that were cut were then piled up to make a wall at the front and covered over using a tarpaulin. Nowadays the caves are in very poor condition, although in one you ...
Puerto Madryn, Patagonia, Argentina mikeandmary... we were surrounded by them!! They are quite possibly the cutest, most fascinating, little animals we´ve ever seen, could´ve quite happily watched them for days and days. They weren´t fazed by all the people around either and walked around proudly not letting anyone get in the way. It was also great that from a low cliff overlooking we had a perfect vantage point to see all the penguins on the beach having a good old squawk at each other and playing about in the sea ...
Puerto Madryn, Patagonia, Argentina briandlorraine... toured the island's sites on the bike - scenic views of seals and penguins, blah blah blah.... The tires on my bike are pretty much done, but the gravel roads were decent so I took it easy and had no problems. The next day I spent some time on the beach, and some time starting to get ready to GO HOME... flights, bike shipping, employment, etc. Ironic that in the tiniest of beach getaways is where reality begins to take root again.
Puerto Madryn, Patagonia, Argentina bocalee... loudly and sounded like she was going to drown as she gurgled in her sleep. Not sure if it was the moise of her snoring or the fact that I thought that each time she gurgled she was dying...I can confirm that she survived until this morning at least. The people that own the hostel were obsessed with cleaning and the place stank of polish, I like clean but there is only so much Mr Sheen and air freshener you can take! In fact this morning, I ...
Puerto Madryn, Patagonia, Argentina jhoekstra79... ins Bett.
