... of the Julian Alps, a few hours north of Ljubljana, with a small lake on which sits an tiny island church, both overlooked by a precarious looking cliff top castle. Arriving in Bled with only the name of a hostel, I found the place - a funny little establishment that occupies only the second storey of a building and has a room the size of a small wardrobe, housing only a computer, cash register and printer, for its ‘reception’ - and crashed, well and truly done for the day. ...

Wide walkways on either side of the slow, meandering Ljubljana River that runs through the center of town are filled with couples, families and young adults strolling and dodging the ever-present bicyclists who are carefully and slowly making their way through the endless procession.

... for food on the first night and we were heading to Bled the next afternoon so this was our opportunity and we weren't going to miss it. We rugged up as the wind had a bit of bite, and we went exploring. We managed some beautiful photos and treated ourselves to a hot drink to celebrate. After our little night cap we headed home and we called it a day….a HUGE day! Tomorrow we were all geared up for our cave expedition and our journey to Bled. But for now…it was LIGHTS OUT

... and I took advantage of the creamy goodness 'til our hearts (and bellies) were content. We walked back the coastline from whence we came admiring the view of calm seas and marinas filled with old fishing boats and yachts that sit on the surface of glass. We went into a large main square and walked up a hill to the other side of the point in which the town is situated. We rested on an old wall that overlooked the calm turquoise waters and admired as the schools of fish ...
