I have two intentionally-scheduled long layovers in Prague. I am probably not getting a real vacation this year and going through Prague saved me some money on flights. Of course, I intent on spending all my savings doing fun stuff around the city.

Because I had only a little time and was going over Easter time, I had done quite a bit of …

Prague D1

... our first out of budget spending - an un anticipated one at that. This is our 8th train journey but all previous 7 conductors didn't point that out, though just administrative and just filling up a travel log which end of the day is going to be with us only, but the rule is a rule - so we paid the fine. The journey was nice - and can see the countryside is very different from Western Europe. More plain and undeveloped. Its a 596 ...

... either. A bit chilly. I just want to see sunshine!!! Oh well, it's still Europe, so I don't know that I'm allowed to complain, regardless of the weather.

It's not really a highly entertaining day to talk about, our train left Vienna at 8:30, so we were up early to check out of the hotel and make it to the train station. We had the fun of trying to figure out our tickets that were in German, and understanding the fact that we had a ...

Praha (Prague)

... has religious statues all along it and it also has two medieval towers on either end. There is great picture taking spots all along the river. Lennon wall is the wall that Lennon (guy from the Beatles) came to Prague and signed. It turned into a cultural thing and now people come and graffiti the wall with sayings and drawings. The wall it self is not very long and you can tell that drawings have been covered up by other drawings. We all added our little saying to the wall and ...

Prague - day 1

... the surprise ending was 250 steps in order to get back to meeting the bus. Again, the exercise is equalizing the food. After checking in to our hotel, a group of ten ventured out on public transportation to Old Town. We had a birthday dinner at an outdoor restaurant called Konirna. John, Sam and I shared a shish kebab served on a sword. The men in our group decided we should try to experience a Prague sunset - that meant walking from Old Town up to the castle area - all up ...

Nice place to crash for the night

It's right up the main street from the metro station and not too far, but it's sort of hidden in an Italian restaurant. As a hostel, it's quite nice. It reminds me of somebody's fancy-shmancy home in that it's incredibly well-decorated. Of course, it's also very old and historic, which is a nice way of saying "has no elevator." For my purposes, it was just perfect though. It was clean. It was central. It had a nice view of the area below. If I had been staying long enough to cook, it had a kitchen that was nice and that I would have used.

Great Hostel in the Heart of Prague

I had a great time at Hostel Home while visiting Prague. Its central, yet quiet and quaint location make it the perfect spot for those looking for nightlife and for those looking for some quietness. The facilities are very well kept and clean with a full kitchen for us. I would definitely recommend it for anyone visiting Prague.
