      Day 42 - Amsterdam

... but that was not on the agenda. Kiah asked my name again. Again, I gave her my full name. Now she asked for the president’s name! I gave it, starting to feel annoyed by the interrogation. Now she asked for my name again! I gave it but it was the last time I would do so (I thought). She asked again but I ignored her, knowing I had passed her test and wondering why she was still grilling me. Then she got her phone out and shined the light in my face, asking ...

Officially one of my favorite cities, despite of the fact that it was raining, cold, and windy our three days there. I loved this city not only because it is incredibly cheap, but because it is essentially the future. It is the second cleanest place I've ever been to (Salt Lake City being #1), the escalators stop when nobody is on them to conserve energy, and everyone rides bikes. ... at a store called "Etos" where I bought some Herome nail hardener, which is unavailable in the States. We also stopped by a pharmacy and bought a container of Hermesetas, because I forgot to bring ours from home.

We decided to walk to the Van Gogh Museum, an approximate 60 minute walk along shady canals and cobbled streets. A bicyclist nearly wiped us out as we rounded one corner. The girl skidded her tires but did manage to avoid running ...

Days 92 to 94 - Amsterdam, the city of tolerance

31 August I was finally feeling a great deal better this morning, and had some energy for a last little walk around the centre of Bruges after Breakfast. It was a bit chilly (haha for us anyway) so we waited for our bus at the hostel using the wifi until lunchtime. Our next destination would be the famous Amsterdam and we were both interested to see if it was like the stories suggest. The guide on this leg 'Ben' was very funny and informative and he gave a good preview of what ...
