... a few minutes of arriving with the classic chat line "hey white girl, come over here, you need some latin loving in your life"...I think she was tempted for a millesecond but the lure of lunch pulled her away!!!
Our flight here meant we had to leave at 4am so by the end of the first day we were tired and it was raining like thereīs no tomorrow so we didnīt really fancy going out for dinner. We went anyway with the intention of having a soup ...
Machupicchu, Cusco, Peru dbrandolizi... looking dogs iīve seen in any country. The Incans believed dogs were guides to the next life, they were often burried with a small one, so that belief somewhat carries on and stray dogs are given meals and cared for by people. So that makes me feel a ltitle better.
So we got on a bus and its a 20 minute death defying ride up a twisting and turning road. Thatīs my opinion anyway, but i get bad anxiety riding along the edge of steep ...
... a comment about environmentally friendly trekking...Our guide was somewhat aware of the impact of garbage and human impact on the environment, but sadly the porters and ancillary staff were not. Our group picked up a small amt of trash near each of our campsites (this trail is not well-maintained by govt staff). We found batteries near streams, plastic bags strewn about and our staff washed and cleaned in the streams. Overall, we felt that ...
Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley, Peru vmallon... the streets were barely a car width wide with no room for both cars and pedestrians. Shops, restaurants and accommodation seemed to lean over into the street to make it feel almost claustrophobic. There was an ascent from one end of town to the other, the higher end leading to some thermal pools.
After collecting our tickets we went looking for suitable accommodation and were rewarded with two suitable adjacent rooms for a total of 54 soles above a restaurant. It ...
... It looked like snow covering the land, but it was salt! The Incas were ingenous - they built these salt pans. Essentially they are small rectangular pools about 12 ft by 8 ft in which the salty water would run through. Once the pools were full they would wall off the pool and wait for the water to evaporate. Once the water is gone, it leaves behind pure white salt. There are literally hundreds of these pocketing the moutainside. In the day of the Incas salt was worth its weight in ...

In fact we were mauled by five different restaurateurs, all trying to entice us into their places to eat in. Quick aside: we'd kept a tally of people canvassing us for one thing or another during our time in Cusco - the results are: Beggars: 5, street artists = 11, restaurateurs = 17 ...
Urubamba, Sacred Valley, Peru atullguptaI got up this morning to take some pics of the Plaza without the markets and guess what? They were setting up for a new market today. The place is so famous they have a market everyday, although some smaller than others. Everyday they set up markets under plastic and every night they come down. The bus ride to Urubamba was fun as always. I love local Busses. Instead of the stinky kid next to me I got stinky old street bum this morning. Pisac and ...
Urubamba, Sacred Valley, Peru dzasta... Kutimunki, as their man-on-the-ground in Australia. These duties would not only include handling enquiries, but also attending travel shows, running seminars, and - best of all - accompanying tour groups in transit between Australia and Peru. The business is not yet large enough for this to be a full-time job, and it is difficult to see how this would fit in with any regular job, but it is tempting nonetheless ...
Urubamba, Sacred Valley, Peru tonyc-r... We sat with a couple named Sylvia and Habakuk. They were recently married and she was the coordinator that Jose trained to handle festiniņo in the future. After dinner we set out to find a jostel. This proved to be harder than we had anticipated. After about an hour of looking we found one that was in our budget and supposedly had hot water for a shower. The water stayed hot for the first 5 mintues and then turned ice cold. We ...
