Puebla de los Ángeles

Puebla is called Angelopolis due to its many churches...for us it was angelical for its wonderful Churros and Quesadillas, the Spanish feel, the Annual Music Festival on the Zocalo (main plaza) and the antique Flea Market. But again, we were haunted by our bad break in finding a nice place to stay....this time the hotel was absolutely beautiful (Hostal Santa Maria) but we didn't know that the cafe in its courtyard would play music until 2am while all Mexicanos' cigar-smoke escaped exclusively...

An Awesome Final Day in Puebla, Mexico

... favorite Mexican restaurant for dinner.

And as we pulled up, it started to rain. Violently!

Edgardo ordered almost everything on the menu for Ronja and I. He ordered 4 different types of chalupas, a small tostada with meat (pork or chicken) and salsa. We had chalupas con salsa verde (green salsa), chalupas con picante (red salsa), chalupas sin salsa (without salsa) and chalupas con frijoles (with beans).

And I had a few bottles - glass bottles, not ...

It Takes A Whole Village to Raise A Child

... away from me!

After the first group left, we talked about what had happened during the first 20 minutes and what we could have done better. We felt that we had started off too strong, playing such a difficult game right away. We decided to start the next session with a game: The "Go Bananas" game. This is a game that we first learned to play at the elementary school in Chino Valley.

We actually got some smiles! And laughs! It was so awesome!

We Can Make A Difference

... a great song that I've been listening to a lot lately. I think it really embodies the UWP mission. It's called "'Give Me Your Eyes" by Christian singer Brandon Heath. Enjoy!

Give me your eyes for just one second.
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing.
Give me your love for humanity.
Give me your arms for the broken hearted,
The ones that are far beyond my reach.
Give me your heart for the once forgotten.
Give me your eyes so I can see.

The Curious Case of the Dog at Teotihuacan

... Sol. We were joined by only 2 other tourists at the summit and a dog that looked down at us with huge beseeching eyes. I offered the cute flea ridden scamp a piece of pastry but he refused. Instead, after a little scratch behind the ears, he led us all the way to the Pyramid of the Moon climbed up with us! If you ever find yourself at Teotihuacan, please bring a few flea collars for the local residents. At 10 a.m., hordes of tour groups descended. We had to run to stay ahead ...

Peaceful (TOO peaceful) Puebla

... and you can climb down into it...it was crazy! Then off to a really cool local market for lunch where I played it safe and had a quesidilla while Ian branched out and tried the soup of the day. Unfortunately for him, the tripe was easily recognisable and he quickly lost his appetite! Then Enrique dropped us at the bus station and we are itno a bus headed to Mexico City - the biggest city in the world (?).....shoudl be a change!

I also am amazed by Subcomandante Marcos and the Zapatistas, and hope to continue my research on this political orgranism. Mexico is a country proud of its history ...

... on the ceiling of a church. Guadalajara has also some great colonial buildings and a huge cathedral. This is something the Spanish conquistadors did well. Built huge imposing cathedrals, an attempt to replace the impressive pyramids and temples, most of which they demolished. So after a few days in Guadalajara I headed south east to the megapolis which is Mexico City. This place is just too big. 23 million and rising. And the energy just drains you. Most people try and spend as ...
