    ... These are generously funded by the local commune and are very well attended. Last night there was a small group singing in those lovely old French songs that tell a story, with a very repetitive melody....but most of the crowd seemed to know all the words off by heart, and tapped along with big smiles on their faces. We mused that this is a particularly French phenomenon.

We stayed here 4 years ago and loved it so much that here we are back in the same gorgeous apartment ...a beautiful restored fisherman's house with bright breezy rooms, two steps from the beach, in the centre of the village ( in fact Kate tells me she can see our place on a webcam!) .     ... side of the border, on the Mediterranean coast,.. for another quiet stop before plotting a course for St Malo and our date with the ferry to Portsmouth.
