Floating Reed Islands

A travel blog entry by tamararae

Today we woke early and went to the main strip for omelette breakfast. It was slow but the food was good. We got back to the hostel and waited for our 9am pick up to do a tour of the Uros Islands.
Fascinating place. It's obvious that tourism is their main source of income and they play to the tourists, however their story of escaping from the …

Not only are there fewer Americans traveling this way but the Japanese tourist numbers have all but stopped. Definitely more sellers than buyers down here now. The bus to Puno was okay however it did not go to the …

Our first taste of guinea pig!

A travel blog entry by michael_lizi

After our tour it was a brief stop back in Puno before the bus to Bolivia the next day. Michael and I decided it was time to taste guinea pig but Ange was having none of it. Ange was right. The texture was horrible - very slimy - and there was barely any meat. All I ended up eating for dinner was the 2 boiled potatoes that came with it!
