Galvarino #745 Puerto Natales, Patagonia, Chile, 56-61-414584
22nd to 24th March 2008 On Sat, 22nd I caught the bus to Puerto Natales, Chile so that I can visit the magnificent Torres Del Paine national park. The journey took 6 hours with an hour queuing at the border crossing, arriving in Puerto Natales around 2pm. I found the hostel without any bother. After check in, I had a wander around town - very small and I managed to book my bus to Punta Arenas on Tues. I also booked a full day trip to Torres Del Paine NP for today. Puerto Natales is located in...

... were simply a distraction to the crew who undertook this trip each andf every week of the year.
While it was clear from the moments that we were able to stand on deck that the beauty of Chile's fjords would rival those of Norway or New Zealand, 100km/h winds, sleet or rain, ensured that our time outside enjoying the view was kept to a minimum.
On board, mini-lectures on the local fauna and flora, showings of Chile's offerings to the world of cinema and many ...
Puerto Natales, Patagonia, Chile anthonykathryn... until it was time to collect our washing from the launderette, when we left the hostel our little friend was still waiting and then followed us as walked down the street, but unfortunately he got caught up in a crowed and lost us, we could see him looking for us but had to do the kindest thing and leave him. We collected our washing and then found somewhere to eat before returning to our hostel to put our washing away and watched some films. 10 th May 2009 ...
Puerto Natales, Patagonia, Chile dlz... 8217;d been warned that if it was cloudy we probably wouldn’t be rewarded for our efforts so decided to give it a miss and push on further along the route towards the towers to break the back of the gruelling trek the following day. We later found out that the thunder was actually the sound of snow avalanching off the glaciers.

We reached Camping Los Cuernos in just over 2 hours – would have been less if we hadn’t taken an accidential detour into ...
Puerto Natales, Patagonia, Chile tom_monique... day was a little more enjoyable with some better scenery and a nice (away from one of the payed sites) campsite close to a river and with no mosquitos. The next day I started to climb towards the hardest part of the hike, up to a pass with some expectation of better views of the park. I wasnt let down from the pass I got my first look at Glacier Grey, the biggest I have seen.
Puerto Natales, Patagonia, Chile terredeshommes... Never had to walk in any stronger than here. The wind at the pass itself is incredible. To take a picture you have to balance your legs one in front and one behind - otherwise you would get blown back on your ****. But its some view from up here - the Grey Glacier. It stretches out in front of you for something like 10km´s or so. A gigantic blue white mound of ice with snow capped peaks all around it eagerly filling it. I think this is the most impressive vista of ...
Puerto Natales, Patagonia, Chile ray_harrington1/2/09 Left Ushuaia and back tracked to San Sebastian to the border crossing with Chile then headed to Porviner to catch the 5.00 ferry to Punta Arenas as there was no ferry service on Mondays, got there around 3.00 and met a tour group of about 15 riders from Australia, UK, USA all catching the same ferry which made the 2.5 hour crossing a bit more interesting. 2/2/09 Headed to Puerto Natales which was only about 3 hours away and stayed a couple of nights ...
Puerto Natales, Patagonia, Chile chileadventure... cold and like they just wanted a warm bed, a gourmet meal a proper toilet and a hot shower and enough drinks to drown a sailor. Their faces were a bit depressing and unnerving but we jokingly said that would be us in 5 days and pressed on. We had a 5 hour hike and 15 kilometers ahead of us. As we began our hike, the beauty was astounding and breath taking, literally as the wind was so strong it could knock a grown man over taking the wind from his lungs. We ...
