    This morning we meet Freddy our tour guide for the Colca Canyon leg of this tour, as we are driven through one section of the Colca Canyon through rocky mountains overlooking some of the active volcanoes in the area. En route we stop to have a look at some vicuñas, llamas and alpacas, all of which are enjoying napping in the sun, not too eager to move making them prime targets for photos. At a ...

    ... a nearby cafe to be served the standard breakfast of scrambled egg, bread and jam. Nothing to complain about, as any food was appreciated! By this point we had made many friends with the other 14 people in the group and it was great to sit down to breakfast together.

    From here we headed to the hot springs. Definitely not natural, but it was nice to rest our muscles in some warm water!

    On the way down into Chivay, where our hotel would be, we drove into the caldera of an ancient volcano. Quickly leaving the hotel, we drove for 90 minutes to the Colca Canyon which is deeper than the Grand Canyon in the US.
