... of getting stranded all the time, decided to get the return around 6:30pm.
Toledo is all about tourists. Lots of tourists. Also it is the photographer's paradise. I think I took almost 100 shots that day and walked almost 6 hours.
The main attractions are the Cathedral, Alcazar, Puertos, and Puentos :)
I got to bed early for an early trip to Segovia tomorrow morning.
... with a fairly consistent beige color due tot he bricks and stones it is made of. Shops and restaurants line it's busier streets, most of which are barely wide enough for both cars and pedestrians and the smaller streets one has to yield to the other. Toledo is historically famous for it's metalurgy and production of bladed weapons, a fact which is not forgotton since most the souvenier shops all sell swords, knives and some even had suits of armour ...
Toledo, Castile-La Mancha, Spain and Canary Islands brandon_t... up as he started talking to the wine guy - we found out the family who owns the restaurant has a wine cellar in the city (right around the corner from the restaurant) with a 47,000 bottle inventory. Mike asked if it would be possible to get a tour of the wine cave, the waiter said "sure, the owner's son will be here later and he'll take you on a personal tour." After dinner, in walked Javier who ...
Toledo, Castille-La Mancha, Spain stacicheck... 8217;s self-guided tour took almost an hour and a half because the church is filled with remarkable art, sculpture, carvings, architecture and clerical vestments. The Sacristy has a collection of masterworks by El Greco, but also paintings by Caravaggio, Titian, Raphael, and Goya. (The Catholic Church certainly knows how to shop.) The treasury contains a ten-foot high, 400 lb. shimmering gold "monstrance" that ...

Our Hotel (Cuidad de Toledo), outside the city walls, provides a panoramic view of the walled city across the Tajo River. Before the Catholic monarchs (you remember, Ferdinand and Isabella) decided to purge the city in the 15th Century, Toledo was the home to thriving Muslim and Jewish communities, co-existing with their Christian brethren. There are two historic ...
Toledo, Castille-La Mancha, Spain cmpatti... We got off on the wrong foot with Toledo – complete with a BIG black beetle swimming in Susan’s stew yesterday and no air conditioning in our hotel during a heat wave. Today was a new day and outlook.
We stored our 2 suitcases and my backpack with the hotel after a breakfast there, and headed outside. A thermometer showed 30C degrees at 9:45am (later it reached 41) but it felt quite ...
... or we could skip it and gamble with Fate, maybe we won't get into a ghastly wreck, maybe our car won't get stolen. "Do you want insurance," it seemed the only phrase this woman could speak in perfect English as horns began poking from her forehead and a guttural laugh began to bellow from her chest. I pictured dings, scratches, crazy European drivers. Lightening struck, scantily clad demonesses began tempting me with the ...
Almagro, Spain and Canary Islands philocan... gave us an amazing view of the town! It was kinda hard to climb the stairs but in the end the view reimburses you. Segovia is not very big - so it's really easy to see everything in let's say 5 hours (walking to the sights included) Took a bus back to Madrid! That seemed to be my last Spanish bus experience for a while - no more cool bus stations and an easy travel and trip network!
