A weekend in Barcelona

After a couple hour layover in Narbonne, France (see previous journal entry) Brian and I continued our journey on the train to Barcelona. The remainder of the train ride was beautiful and an adventure. Once we were seated we were told in French that our train was delayed for an hour. We sat in the station for a very long time, while we waited to continue our trip. After a few hours in the train our whole car was surprised to hear a pounding sound. At first, everyone on the train including us ...

A day with Gaudi

I got to Barcelona yesterday afternoon and bought a guidebook in the airport. I called a couple of hostels before talking to Carlos at HCB. He is so awesome! He saved a room for me while I navigated my way to the hostel. I took a train to the metro and then took the metro to the hostel. But once I got out of the metro station I couldn't find the hostel so I called Carlos again and he came over to where I was to meet me and show me the way. Then he carried one of my bags and gave me a tour. Fi...

It's official. We are bad at updating our blog.

So, as you can tell... right now we are in Barcelona and have not updated our blog since Prague... which was almost a month ago. Warren started one for Prague but right when he was about to finish it, the computer freaked out, deleted the whole blog, and then the blank blog auto-saved and it was totally gone! So that set us back even more.

It's been quite a bit harder than we thought to keep up with writing, for a few different ...

... out Pizzeria El Born and got 2 slices. Vince picked spinach and olives and I had bacon & corn. It probably sounds like we had been eating all day, but the portions are small and you can only each so much because everything is rich. Healthy, but rich. Plus, you walk miles a day. We found a bench, ate our pizza, bought a couple of beers from the guys selling it on the street, relaxed for while and then headed home.

... over the coals...I thought Bobby was going to go crazy... never fear Bobby saved the day. We tried a Spanish sausage that they are famous for and it was amazing. We then went to the beach where there were a lot of half naked women just laying around catching a tan! yikes! Next was a trip to the mountains. Of course once we get up there a freak storm blows in so we had a relaxing day in an amazing cabin. We then ...

Yippeeee! I Got Jobs!

... again - since we haven't been working for 9 months! Spain is a lot more expensive than South America, but not that much more than Canada. The groceries are cheaper anyway! As for accommodation, we've found a temporary solution that will work out well for a couple of months. We're renting a room from two guys named David and Juan. David has been in Barcelona for two years and Juan has lived here since he was 12. They know the city ...

... that fact that I paid for that meal helped me along a bit. So after we downed that, we ordered dessert and coffee. For all the coffee drinkers reading this, I'm sure you would have appreciated that restaurant. I think that I may have had the best cup of coffee in my life thus far in that restaurant in Barcelona. After reveling in good coffee, which doesn't seem to exist in America, we sat on our little balcony and watched the people go by.

There was an ampitheatre (like the colluseum, but smaller. we had to go to the toilet there in holes, don't like it. they're like the ones we had to use in middle east and thailand oll and luce) and roman baths. we also wandered along the river to an aniques museum and took in some history (mum would have been proud). There were also crypto-somethings, you go under the main level of he current town to see the old ...
