We decided that we needed a break after the hard travelling we did. It´s tougher than you might think travelling out of a backpack and constantly moving. Our bodies must have known we slowed down because I ended up getting a cold and Andrew´s stomach did him in. You would think that Peru might have some nice beaches given that it is on the Pacific Ocean and all, but during their winter (now) the clouds come in from the west and the Andes seem to prevent the clouds from going anywhere. So in L...
Trujillo, Peru doubled... after the spit roast. The night was a great success and another tick in the box. The following day the A team were on cook group again so we trooped off to market and bought a couple of whole tuna for the BBQ - went down a treat. Can´t quite beleive just how healthily we´re eating. The most unhealthy meal has been the sausage one. Obviously the fact that we´re eating healthily doesn´t mean I´m loosing weight....in fact I´m struggling with portion control, but nothing new ...
Trujillo, Peru skoylesr... me) in the world.

The Moche were around between 100 BC and 700 AD. One king after another left his tomb behind him and the next would build on top of it, gradually creating a step pyramid. Apparently, one of the two pyramids was the largest man made building in the western hemisphere – 45m tall - until the Spaniards decided to divert a river to destroy it (or most of it at any rate) and see ...
Trujillo, Peru bootephant... who stared in vain. The long tailed reed surf boards that the fisherman use to trawl in their catch stood tall and proud in lines edging the beach and the ice cream vendors stood like multicoloured statues under their umbrellas.

I supped from my bottle of dark rum and coke while Nicki wrote her diary and we walked along to the pier to go and get a better view of the bay. A women with a bucket full of fish sat next to fishing lines with hooks and weights ...
Trujillo, La Libertad, Peru alberto66... just want thier standard of living to improve overall, but they have to realise how flawed somethings about the western culture they crave is.
I managed to find a book on spanish verbs and brought this. Should help me out abit. Im really going to make the effort to keep learning spanish when I get home, and to come back to Mexico (love Mexico!), and visit Cuba, Venezuela and some other places I missed, but this time with atleast half decent language!
Back to the hostel ...
Huanchaco, Peru solskjaer20... the bathroom, I could only show them the roll of toilet paper in my hand and said I would be right back. When I re-emerged from the facilities, Sylvain was with the three armed policemen showing them our collection of papers for the bikes and our drivers licenses. They pointed to a book of traffic rules and said we were in violation of the law that says that all vehicles must be ...
Huanchaco, Peru courtrand... tienes pelo amarillo?" in a whiny voice. "Why do you have yellow hair?" I reply, "Por que mi madre tiene pelo amarillo." Because my mother has yellow hair. Not good enough. She asks again. I turn the question around. "Porque tienes pelo negro?" Why do you have black hair? She doesn't think she needs to answer and moved onto my eyes, why are they celeste? (light blue) Because God made them that way (neither of my parents have blue eyes and lying to a child seems in poor taste) She seems to ...
Trujillo, Peru kally563... the cheeky ****er had charged her for both. Thoroughly unimpressed by the comedy of errors from this sub-standard dining experience, we paid for the total amount minus one coke and legged it. What a farcical eatery! We hopped into a taxi (avoiding colectivos in fear of geriatric bag women) and were soon back at the hostel. I asked the driver to pick us up at 7.30am, to which he agreed. Early night for our 5am start ahead of the 8.30am bus, or so we thought...
Huanchaco, Peru alastair6... and it´s just a big city so we´ve been just walking around and killing time.

the buildings are old and ancient and colonial though and are super cool. the computer is actually fast here but we forgot the usb adapter thing in the hotel so no pics yet, maybe tomorrow.

ps if anybody knows how to resize photos using just like ...
Trujillo, Peru christina_lam... What grabbed most of my attention was the model display of the first king of the city of Chan Chan "coming from the sea" being welcomed by the local people at the time. My guess, as I am sure most people’s guesses are, that the king had sailed from Asia, especially when one notices how the Peruvians of today seemingly have many Asian features. We weren’t there for long as it was a very small museum and we wanted to visit Huanchaco, the ...
