Hospedaje y Mejicana Punta Arenas

... It´s a compact city and doesn´t take long to explore. There´s a hill in town with a good view that I´ll climb up tomorrow, and another one 8km out of town that I may have time for too... I have to say that I´m not really too excited about exploring Punta Arenas and Santiago... Chilean Patagonia is a lot like Argentinian Patagonia, but wetter and more expensive. I just can´t wait to get to the mighty Atacama desert now!

... any more. The train stations in Bs. As. seem pretty decrepit with trains going to no places I've ever heard of, local and regional only I think. The big problem now is a lack of coins to pay with, queues stretching around corners with people waiting patiently in line. It was all over the news down here; I'm sure it must've made CNN. The long distance trains I imagine have long since been replaced by buses, double deck affairs ...

... thing about this glacier: you can hear it move!! It doesn't creak or squeak, when it makes a move (you can hear something every few minutes), it releases a thunderous roar that you can hear from miles away. We took a boat ride to the front of the glacier's wall and we were so lucky. Just as we pulled up to the front of the glacier, we heard a m************ing sound and all of a sudden, a large piece of the wall just fell away into the lake, sending a big wave ...

... In fairness as we approached the Nena glacier it didnt look too impressive, not as big as the one in Ushuaia anyway. We then rounded a corner and there was the other massive glacier hanging over the water. It was incredibly blue and really really high.
