My new Spanish yogi friend, not surprisingly, made it to the top and I was elated to take his picture when he came back down and celebrate his successful day and I was not the slightest bit envious. I got to practice a few yoga stretches while I waited. I'd say my day was just right for ...

It was brilliant and we all wanted a second go down again if only we could face the hike up. By the time I got down to Rosario's house I was exhausted and needed a quick seista before we headed out to dinner. We had a pizza in pucon which was the best I'd had since travelling with a thin crusty ...

... easier as the conditions changed from rock to snow. Another hour passed of upward climbing, winding our way up in the snow, all the time trying to regulate our temperature, freezing hands when you stop, boiling hot as your thighs burned, wind chill hitting your poor exposed cheeks. We then hit the glacier (c.2000m), which was exposed from any rock cover, meaning the wind chill increased as did the gradient; the fluffy snow had turned to hard ice which given the 60 degree ...
