... up it was wonderfully exhilarating and of course it's just you, the mountain and the views.
Villarica was one of the toughest hikes I've done and one of the best. The only one that comes close is when I climbed Scafell in the lake district and that was only 964m above sea level. Having said that we started at the bottom of that one and weren't able to slide back down. Either way I love a good hike and Nepal is calling for huge hikes and yoga retreats. Until then I continue down south. ...

... way too much strenuous activity in the baking sun on holiday), we were at the bus station at 8am the next morning to visit one of the nearby national parks, thinking we could do a nice stroll and see some lovely scenery...the latter was true but after 2 hours of walking mostly uphill, Ash was in quite a lot of pain - nonetheless, not wanting to suffer from FOMO and miss an amazing view, we plodded on and got to some nice lakes before plodding back down...in hindsight maybe ...

... the soft snowy slopes 'like a monkey' and having seen several monkeys running on their hind legs whilst carrying something I did think it was a good description! It was brilliant and we all wanted a second go down again if only we could face the hike up. By the time I got down to Rosario's house I was exhausted and needed a quick seista before we headed out to dinner. ... off the snow, we completed the last section of the descent with speed too. The cooled lava pieces had hardened and turned to the consistency of gravel, making it very easy to slide down step by step. After a long hard day, we returned to town and had a celebratory drink in the hostel garden and a few of us planned a night on the town.
